After stepping down as a senior royal in 2020 and leaving the UK, Meghan Markle found her forever home in a $29 million mansion in Montecito, California. The plush residence, with nine bedrooms, serves as the Sussexes' haven of quiet solitude, where they raise their two children in privacy. On September 26, Markle shared a rare photo of her living room, featuring her rescue beagle Mia resting on an armchair. Royal fans were treated to a glimpse of her luxurious mansion, having previously seen only snippets on her Netflix show.

The Duchess of Sussex shared the picture on her Instagram story with the caption, "Delphinium, Nigella, Veronica — meet As ever," referring to colorful blooms. "With garden roses and Queen Anne's lace (and a very sleepy Mia). Looking lovely, ladies." Apart from the obvious royal nod, a closer look revealed that the white decorative vase with the flowers featured her lifestyle brand, As Ever’s logo. This had many convinced that As Ever was likely expanding into home goods and fashion from wine and jams, especially since Markle has herself hinted at the same in the past. However, PEOPLE reported that the vase mightly just be a fun creation for her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

This wasn't the first time Markle has shared photos of her plush mansion on Instagram. Just two days earlier, on her As Ever account, she posted a picture of her spacious backyard, featuring Mia and her other dog, Pula. She captioned the post, "Crisp air, blue skies, and the sweetest moments 🍃" Eagle-eyed fans noticed two palm trees in the background, which were known to have served as the catalyst for Markle and Prince Harry choosing their Montecito home.

In an interview with The Cut, the Duchess explained the significance of the trees, saying, "One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees. See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, 'My love, it’s us.' And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.'"

Clips of the Sussexes' Montecito mansion were also featured on their 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. It offered brief glimpses of the decor, including their home office. One still revealed two desks positioned in front of a white brick fireplace. Another shot showed the couple’s home theatre, where they relax and have movie nights with their children. But Markle’s Instagram stories mostly feature her spacious kitchen. The French-country–style space is complete with wood-accented cabinets, patterned blue-and-white backsplash tiles, stone alcoves housing a Viking range, and gleaming copper pans.

The Mediterranean-style home sits on a 7.4-acre property and boasts approximately 16,000 square feet of living space. It features nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and a range of opulent amenities designed for the family. The estate also boasts a pool, tennis court, rose garden, tea house, and a chicken coop.
