Meghan Markle is known to enjoy gardening, especially growing fruits and vegetables with her family. In a recent podcast appearance, she shared how her two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, often help on weekends as they take their harvest to the local farmer’s market. For the Duchess, teaching her children about the ‘price for things’ is as important as learning good manners.

According to Hello! Magazine, on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, Markle opened up about her parenting tactics. She said, “We grow a lot of veggies. We sometimes do a little farmer's market stand... There's a cost and a price for things, and I think that's key for children to understand, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege; you need to know that just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things.” The Suits alum stressed on the benefits of teaching children how to garden. She argued that “it teaches them patience and... to value and appreciate their food.”

Markle's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, also featured Archie and Lilibet’s gardening tool sets. As per the Daily Mail, she said on the show, “Our kids have real sets, they take their gardening very seriously... I think it's nice to give kids seeds that they can plant. Things that they can watch grow easily and pick from, like sugar snap peas and basil.”

On the podcast, Markle got candid about what her day looks like with her children. She shared how her kids have reached an age where she does not want to miss out on anything. She explained, “This is such a key age. I don't want to miss a moment for my children and I love that I can do drop off and pick up at school and do meetings in between and go to Disneyland for two days, as we just did.” She continued, “And, you know, volunteer to serve hot lunch at school or be the chaperone for the kindergarten field trip.” The mother-of-two also admitted that she loves to prepare school lunches for her little ones. She said, “I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs, have a glass of wine, [and] I'm doing their little lunch. I find joy in it for whatever reason, and it can be therapeutic. That for me is one of my simple pleasures.”

Earlier journalist Allison P. Davis who once accompanied Markle as she picked up Archie from school, also shared just how much Markle focuses on teaching her kids the right values. Allison penned, “At a stoplight, she [Meghan] reaches into the trunk and produces a brand-new black backpack and hands it to her security detail to give to an unhoused man on the corner.” She added, “They are teaching Archie that some people live in big houses, some in small, and that some are in between homes. They made kits to pass out with water and peanut-butter crackers, and granola bars.”
