Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Valentine's Day sojourn in Vancouver has been criticized thanks to the pair agreeing to take a private flight to the Canadian city. In addition to what one royal analyst calls "more eco hypocrisy" from the duo, a source close to the Montecito twosome observed: "It's always other people's money" when discussing their latest avoidance of flying commercial like the royals.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Vancouver, Canada, on Valentine's Day 2024.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in the city on a three-day promotional tour for the 2025 Invictus Games, which is Harry's signature initiative. Although the games are certainly a good cause for wounded service personnel, it is the ex-working royals' penchant for "freebies" and "living in the laps of luxury" that is making headlines as of late.

In the latter part of 2023, and within the first six weeks of this year, it has been reported that the royal rebels have taken four private jets to destinations around the world. This is in contrast to senior British royals (minus King Charles as a world leader), who are consistently taking commercial flights. Reports are also suggesting that Harry and Meghan love to take solo flights that other people fund. "They certainly don’t like to spend their own money," one insider quipped.

The Duke of Sussex claps back at criticism by claiming the private jets are taken for "security reasons," even though their use contradicts his past pleas to reduce carbon emissions. Jets are known to emit gallons upon gallons of carbon into the atmosphere. Flying commercial is one recommendation climatologists suggest to reduce air travel as much as possible as a group effort.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had an active 2024 so far.

The couple, who quit the British monarchy four years ago, are also known to stay at "their rich pals" homes while traveling to reduce coming out of their own pockets for lavish hotels.

Insiders also stepped forward to spill how Meghan "hated" the protocol while working for the royal family that prohibited members from taking freebies while on public engagements. One palace source stated: "British royals are regal public servants and a branch of the British government, not celebrities. Meghan missed the memo on that one completely."

Allegedly, the Duchess of Sussex approached her royal role in the late 2010s from a Hollywood perspective. "She certainly has the Hollywood mentality, 'If I wear your brand, it will increase sales,'" another Sussex source spilled when highlighting the ex-actress' mindset.

The palace source added how the royal rebels "cannot get enough — they crave" the glamorous life, and Meghan wishes to combine "royalty and Hollywood" in her quest for A-list fame.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of 'living it up on freebies' when traveling for work.

The pair are also currently in the news thanks to a glossy new website to try and "relaunch" their Archewell brand for 2024. Yet another Sussex source dished how the new website is "basically, it’s 'Look at us... don’t forget we’re royal above everything else.'"

The next Invictus Games are set to commence in Vancouver from February 8-16, 2025.
