Meghan Markle Could Be Planning a New TV Series in the UK — and It Could Spell Trouble for the Royals

The royal family has already expressed displeasure over previous interviews, media interactions and book revelations.

After stepping down from royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set their sights on Hollywood. Over a period of six years, they produced five documentary series on Netflix through Archewell Productions. The most popular, With Love, Meghan has recently been nominated for a Daytime Emmy, despite the series being renewed for only two seasons. However, their ambitions soon crashed due to multiple reasons; now the Sussexes are back in the UK, and if reports are to be believed, Markle wants to host a full film production in their backyard.

The royal family also might be dreading what the Sussexes are planning this time, since, according to The Daily Mail, they are hunting for a property in the Cotswolds that will offer privacy and space for film production. Seemingly, Markle has been looking for a nine-bedroom house with a film studio in the Cotswolds, while Harry seeks ample land free from footpaths.

Royal expert Paula Froelich highlighted on The Royalist podcast that these are signs that the Sussexes are potentially in the middle of a new project. The film studio is seen as more than a luxury, with sources indicating that the Duke and the Duchess are developing a new TV series. "There’s a buzz about a ‘return to the U.K.’ series, if you will," Froelich revealed. "And that is getting louder and is coming from all parts of the industry. I am hearing that there is an active project," she added.

According to The Daily Beast, the royal expert went on to suggest potential titles for a series focused on the Sussexes' new beginnings in the UK, six years after they left the royal fold. "It is kind of nuts... It’s like, you know, ‘Finding Freedom: The Return, or ‘Harry and Meghan: Part Deux,’ or ‘The New Life.’ You know, there’s so many great titles we could come up with," she suggested. Froelich also noted that the Sussexes currently "need to make money."

Given their situation, the Duke and the Duchess are reportedly facing significant financial challenges, including Harry's eight-figure payout to newspaper publishers following a court defeat. They are looking for homes in the Cotswolds priced over $10 million while retaining their $15 million Montecito mansion and an $8.5 million holiday home in Portugal, which also means they will be paying for the upkeep of their international properties.

"They need the big bucks," Froelich pointed out, adding that this would mean fresh troubles for the royal family. "The problem is... I’m not sure she knows who she is," Froelich said. "Nobody gets to peek behind the curtain."

She added, "She doesn’t know who she is, but she knows what she wants to project." However, Sykes argued that the couple's homecoming was bang on point with a powerful display of money, and hence they might be planning a visually successful script, "like them trying to say, we’re not broke, we’re arriving back in triumph,” he added.
