Major Clue From the Earthshot Prize Hints Kate Middleton Is Heading to Mumbai Soon
Kate Middleton is rumored to attend the Earthshot Prize ceremony this year, and one recent update could be a sign.
2026 is on its tail end, and the royal calendar is set to wrap up with one of its most high-profile events: the sixth annual Earthshot Prize ceremony. Prince William’s landmark 10-year environmental endeavor is officially crossing its midpoint, and he is set to travel to Mumbai, India, for the monumental occasion. Kate Middleton is touted to join him on the trip, and while her supposed attendance is merely a concoction of rumors and hope at this point, the Earthshot Prize may have recently given a big clue that might confirm the speculation.
So far, the Earthshot Prize has confirmed an initial roster of presenters for the event, including Bohemian Rhapsody actor Rami Malek, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor. However, organizers have noted that additional presenters will be announced in the lead-up to November.
This leaves room for speculation that the Princess of Wales might join the star-studded lineup. Such an appearance is not entirely out of the question: Middleton previously presented an award at the 2022 ceremony in Boston alongside late Hollywood icon Catherine O’Hara, as well as actors Shailene Woodley and Malek. During the inaugural 2021 event in London, she also presented the final award of the night, the ‘Protect and Restore Nature’ award, to the Republic of Costa Rica and delivered a rare, memorable speech calling for global climate action.
After fighting an intense health battle over the past few years, the Princess of Wales made a full-fledged comeback to royal duties this year. In May, she undertook her first international work trip since her cancer diagnosis, traveling for a cause very close to her heart. Middleton visited Reggio Emilia, Italy, to observe and engage with the city’s globally acclaimed Early Childhood Education techniques. She not only completed the two-day work trip with flying colors but also marked her powerful, inspiring return to the global scene.
A recent job vacancy at the Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood Studies suggests that the Princess could take on more international work commitments, making it far less surprising should she decide to accompany William to India. It will be their first visit to the country in a decade, following their 2016 royal tour. However, this journey promises to be a completely different experience for the pair, driven by a distinct purpose rather than traditional royal duties.
Currently the royal headlines are scattered across multiple fronts, from Forest Lodge and Clarence House to the Sussexes. But Middleton’s potential presence at the Earthshot Prize this year could firmly refocus the global spotlight entirely on Mumbai.
