Kylie Kelce Issues Public Apology to Princess Kate Over Title Blunder: "I Didn't Know That!"
Kylie Kelce received a lot of comments regarding her mistake, and she clearly took them seriously.
Princess Kate has been stepping out for her fair share of royal appearances lately, and amid it all, she recently received a totally unexpected yet fiercely special invitation. Kylie Kelce, wife of NFL star Jason Kelce and sister-in-law to Travis Kelce, publicly invited the Princess of Wales to appear on her popular podcast, Not Gonna Lie, suggesting the two might actually have quite a bit in common. The podcast host exclaimed, “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We got a couple of things in common.”
Kelce further added, “We’d love to have you. No pressure. Please." Following these developments, however, things took quite a turn after Kelce received a wave of feedback from fans and followers. According to a recent report by HELLO!, commentators pointed out that she had used the incorrect title to address the royal. Kelce clearly took this pretty seriously, as she took it upon herself to apologize to Middleton. In her latest episode, Kelce addressed the error, explaining that she was genuinely "unaware that it was offensive.”
While addressing the backlash, Kelce said, “I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologise for the mistake.” Furthermore, she clarified that she would use the title "Princess of Wales" moving forward to give the royal the respect she undoubtedly deserves. She added, “I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected. Princess Catherine, or the Princess of Wales, I apologise. I will get that sorted immediately, starting now.” This sincere correction was met with a lot of appreciation from her fans, as well as ardent royal watchers.
However, this wasn’t the first time the royal's title was confused. In November 2025, the BBC made a similar blunder when they repeatedly referred to the Princess of Wales as “Kate Middleton” during their live coverage of the Armistice Day commemorations at the National Memorial Arboretum. Following the incident, the network predictably received a wave of complaints from royal watchers demanding an apology. In response, newsreader Rajini Vaidyanathan issued a formal apology on air, stating, “These were errors during hours of live broadcasting for which we apologise!”
