King Charles Warned Against Taking This One Step That Would Let Down The Monarchy

It would be that defiant moment in history where several loyal monarchists would feel betrayed after supporting the King while the Sussexes trashed the royal image.

Prince Harry is preparing for a complete royal reconciliation with King Charles next year. If reports are to be believed, the Duke of Sussex has extended an "olive branch" by inviting the monarch to the 2027 Invictus Games to be held in Birmingham. Royal reporter Russell Myers reacted to this news by stating that Harry has improved his connections since "slinging mud from across the pond" following 'Megxit' in 2020. "I believe it’s a genuine wish to reconcile with his father," Myers noted. "Whether the rest of the royal family will be there, I’m not so sure on this occasion," Nine Australia reported. However, there has been no official confirmation from the palace side yet, and royal watchers believe Harry is laying a trap for the King with this one calculated move.

Amanda Platell of the Daily Mail argues that if the monarch accepts the invitation, then he might just be betraying his loyal following. Platell revealed that royal insiders remain speculative and state the Duke remains 'hopeful' that his father will back him. "Harry would love the King's support. I bet he would, but the brutal truth is that the British public would be simply appalled," a source noted.

Platell pointed out that if Charles gave in to his younger son's demands, it would be a defiant moment in history, when several loyal monarchists would feel betrayed after supporting the King, while the Sussexes trashed the royal image. She goes on to explain with facts that Harry added distress to Queen Elizabeth's final years, forcing her to choose between her love for family and her duties as a monarch, ultimately rejecting their 'half-in, half-out' proposal. Platell further argues that the royal watchers stood steadfast with the 'firm' when the Duke and Duchess accused the royal family of racial slur during their infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"Which is why King Charles would be letting down every one of us if he put fatherhood before duty and gave in to Harry's pleas," the columnist warns. "The Invictus invitation is not an 'olive branch'. For Harry to dress it up as such is a cynical ploy for his own gain," she writes.

Platell claims that Harry is looking to make a profit from the optics, because if he goes solo in his appearances or even manages to get the Duchess by his side, it won't draw much attention. However, if he manages to draw on the charisma of having his father by his side, the media would go wild with images of a father-son emotional public reunion. Platell then compared it with the grand success of King's state visit to the United States.

Charles is currently enjoying a record approval rating of 68% among the British public, marking a six-point increase since Spring. Buckingham Palace's response to Harry's invitation expresses the King's desire to see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. However, Platell opines that endorsing Harry, who has publicly criticized the family time and again, would be a mistake for the monarchy
