King Charles Sparks Health Concern as Fans Spot Worrying Detail During Latest Outing
King Charles carried on with a packed day of engagements despite a visible eye injury that quickly caught the attention of royal fans.
Despite being diagnosed with cancer, King Charles has continued to carry out royal duties without fail. However, during his recent visit to a space laboratory in Oxford, royal watchers became concerned after noticing a visible injury to his right eye. Nevertheless, he carried on with his packed schedule.
Photos from the university research centre showed the King appearing fascinated by the cutting-edge innovations on display. But his right eye looked red and inflamed. It was not the first time the 77-year-old had been seen with bloodshot eyes. Almost a year ago, Charles bore a similar redness in his right eye while welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, at Windsor. At the time, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson clarified that the redness was caused by a burst blood vessel that had developed overnight.
The spokesperson had also stressed that it was unrelated to the King's ongoing cancer treatment and there was no cause for concern. His eye appears the same this time around, although the Palace has not commented on whether it is the same issue.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a broken blood vessel in the eye, known as a subconjunctival hemorrhage, is usually harmless. The clinic notes that something as simple as a strong sneeze or cough can cause one, and it typically does not require treatment. In most cases, the redness clears up on its own within a week or two.
Throughout his cancer journey, Charles has remained committed to his royal responsibilities. Even when he wasn't appearing in public, reports said he continued working on official duties behind the scenes. His diagnosis was announced by Buckingham Palace in February 2024, and while the Palace has never disclosed the type of cancer, the King has since resumed a busy schedule while continuing his treatment. Commenting on how the King has balanced his treatment with his royal duties, a royal aide had earlier shared, “The thing you learn about this illness [cancer] is that you just manage it. And that's what he does. Medical science has made incredible advances, and I genuinely see no difference in him.”
