King Charles Makes Cheeky Joke About Camilla — and It Says Everything About Their Relationship [Watch]
A playful moment during King Charles's recent Isle of Man visit showed why he and Queen Camilla still make such a winning pair.
Although their journey back to each other was far from smooth, King Charles and Queen Camilla have proved that true love endures. While many have wondered about the secret to their long-lasting bond, the King offered a charming glimpse into it during his July 14 visit to the Isle of Man, where he met a 104-year-old veteran, James Fenton. When Fenton asked Charles to pass along his regards to the Queen, the monarch jokingly asked if he, too, had danced with Camilla—proving that humor remains at the very heart of their 20-year marriage.
In a sweet exchange shared on X (formerly Twitter), Charles and Fenton were seen greeting each other, with the King poking fun at his own old age. Having previously met the year prior at the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, the two shared an easy rapport. At the end of their conversation, when the Burma Star veteran asked the monarch to pass on his regards to Camilla, Charles quipped, "I will. Don't tell me you're another one who danced with her as well." For the unversed, the queen is known for her love of dancing and has danced with numerous veterans at commemorative events over the years—including a memorable moment in 2015 when she joyfully shook a leg with World War II veteran Jim Booth to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day. In fact, Camilla loves dancing so much that she regularly practices ballet to stay healthy. As reported by HELLO!, former Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Rippon revealed, "I persuaded her [Camilla] to become a Silver Swan, and she takes the classes very seriously because we were just talking about the way in which dancing really is a brilliant way of getting fit and keeping fit." The Queen has taken part in the Royal Academy of Dance's Silver Swans ballet classes for older adults, reflecting her genuine passion for the art form.
Her husband of 21 years has also shown no qualms about joking at her expense, highlighting their mutual love for good-natured banter. Back in 2022, when the couple visited Rwanda, Camilla was caught on camera urging Charles to "hurry up" so they could pose for a photo. The King jokingly quipped, "She's very bossy." Similarly, as reported by The Independent, during the royal Easter walkabout in 2024, when a well-wisher shared that they had named their King Charles Spaniel 'Camilla,' the monarch dryly responded, "I would get a new one as well," drawing plenty of laughs.
Reflecting on their enduring bond, Camilla's former aid opened up about the many sacrifices she made after marrying Charles in 2005, which often came at the cost of her health. They told Newsweek, "It wasn't the role or title—whether as Duchess [of Cornwall] or Queen—that appealed to her [Camilla]; it was being with the man she loved. She [Camilla] was very willing to undertake the role and responsibilities, but it was never part of the goal of what she wanted from life."
