The presentation of New Colours has been a long military tradition that holds symbolic significance, replacing the worn-out ones and emphasizing continuity. Once consecrated, these Colours take on a sacred role that highlights the profound connection between the monarchy and the Armed Forces. This ceremony marks a new era with the reigning monarch's cipher, turning the sovereign's birthday celebration into a powerful display of national identity, authority, and military prestige.

On June 9, King Charles and Queen Camilla presented the Grenadier Guards with two new Colours at Buckingham Palace. The Grenadier Guards saluted the King, their Colonel-in-Chief, with three cheers in preparation for Trooping the Color this weekend. Camilla, who also honored the ceremony as Colonel of the regiment, looked radiant in a powdered blue dress and matching hat. One of the consecrated Colours will be dominating this weekend's Trooping of the Color.

The flags, made of silk damask and gold thread, commemorate the regiment's war honors. The Chaplain-General consecrated the new Colours in a military-style ceremony, changing the banners into the official Colours required for active duty. This ceremonial consecration is based on a historical practice in which troops built sacred places before combat.

In an act of devotion and respect towards the monarchy, the soldiers from Britain's senior infantry regiments paraded with their 'Old Colours' from Wellington Barracks to Buckingham Palace. As per The Daily Mail, King Charles has previously commemorated this ceremony in 2023 with a powerful, poignant message, stating, "It is some eighty-five years since a King’s Colour has been presented and, on such a special occasion, I particularly wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you, as representatives from the three Services, for your loyal service over the course of her remarkable reign, to The late Queen who, I know, held you all in such high regard." Meanwhile, Queen Camilla was presented with the position of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards following the return of the title by former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to the late Queen in 2022.

After the King presented the new Colours, as per tradition, he boosted the morale of the soldiers with an inspirational speech. Then the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel responded briefly before returning the Colours to the Guards, who cheered three times and marched past. Reportedly, the elite unit of The Grenadier Guards is considered the British Army's most senior infantry regiment. Soldiers from this regiment shoulder the noble task of being the Sovereign's bodyguards in the Royal Palaces in London and Windsor. In recent times, the unit has been doing operational training in Cyprus and Kenya over the last eighteen months. Since its creation, the Grenadier Guards have taken part in every major combat, including Waterloo, the Crimean War, both World Wars, and recent operations in Afghanistan.
