The candid exchange posted on X (formerly Twitter) happened when the Princess of Wales was seated beside Prince William inside Westminster Abbey. Glancing across the room, she spotted Edwards taking a photo of her, greeting him with a sweet, "Hello." Sharing a video of the same on X, an observer shared, "The Princess of Wales spotting royal photographer, Arthur Edwards, taking photos of her inside Westminster Abbey today! She's so cute."
Edwards has been a photographer for The Sun since 1977. As per his Instagram, he has photographed seven royal weddings, four funerals, and seven royal births. So, it's no surprise that Middleton was well-acquainted with him.
After Middleton's touching exchange went viral, royal fans had the same thing to say. A netizen gushed, "She really has such a charming presence! Love seeing her in action." In a similar vein, another echoed, "The way she noticed Arthur smiled & said, 'hello' is so adorable." A person also commented, "Such a cutie, I think she mouths Hello?" A comment also read, "Love seeing her catch him in the act like that, such a sweet moment." Another opined, "She's so lovely. Can she hurry up & be Queen, please?"
Inside the Abbey, Middleton warmly greeted her family members and accepted flowers from a young girl. In yet another adorable exchange, when she moved in to give Princess Anne a customary kiss on the cheek, the Princess Royal gently swerved to avoid bumping into Middleton's huge hat, making for a good laugh.
For the event, the Princess of Wales arrived in a navy Catherine Walker coatdress with a matching hat, coordinating with her husband. She paired it with a five-strand pearl necklace and the late Queen Elizabeth's Bahrain pearl drop earrings, honoring royal tradition.
For those unversed, the Commonwealth is an association of 56 independent nations representing 2.7 billion people worldwide to promote cooperation, democracy, and shared values among member states. The British monarch, i.e., King Charles, serves as its Head, which is why the royal family plays an integral role in its annual celebrations. Each year on the second Monday of March, senior royals attend the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey, greeting guests and highlighting the organization's unity and cultural diversity. For this year, Charles, Queen Camilla, William, Middleton, and Anne were joined by approximately 1,800 guests, with the celebration including speeches, music, poetry, and multicultural performances.
