"He Doesn’t Know British Real Estate": How Ellen DeGeneres Is Guiding Harry & Meghan’s U.K. Move

The Sussexes are apparently planning to turn into an ‘International family’ by moving to Britain.

After delivering a major shocker to the Royal Family and beyond, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are reportedly moving to Britain in a few days with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are now planning their lives in Harry’s homeland. In looking for a new home for their "private" and "non-royal" estate, they turned to a rather unexpected ally: Ellen DeGeneres. According to sources speaking to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, helped the Sussexes plan their U.K. lives behind the scenes. Apparently, the couple was clueless about the country's housing market, with an insider revealing, “Harry knows Britain, but he doesn’t know British real estate!”

They further added, “He’s never had to think about neighborhoods, privacy, security, or whether a house actually works for his family. Those decisions were always made around him.” This is exactly where DeGeneres, who has been close with Markle for years, seemingly ended up becoming their knight and shining armor. After all, she and her wife had a similar experience while moving away from the US a couple years ago. However, it’s safe to say that the former talk show host was much more useful than just being the middle man. Another source close to the couple explained, “Ellen wasn’t playing real estate agent—she was much more useful than that. She told them where to look, what to avoid, and which areas offered genuine privacy without leaving them isolated from London.”

Meanwhile, another insider added, “Ellen and Portia gave him the real-world education nobody in the royal family ever had to.” Beyond this, Harry and Markle’s close friends have also commented on their alleged grand move. During an appearance on This Morning (via HELLO!), Harry’s friend Bryony Gordon shared, “What I understand is that as lovely as California is, it's a long way away from lots of things. When they came in July, they had a really lovely time at Althorp… with Harry's uncle, Earl Spencer. I think that was really lovely, and I think the kids really loved it, and I think they want to be closer to that." Further, regarding funding, Gordon expressed, “I don't know how they're going to fund it, but what I do know is that the plan is for them to be... more international.” However, neither the Sussexes nor their representatives have commented on these claims as of yet.
