Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Secret UK Support Squad Revealed Ahead of Their Royal Return

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be heading back to Britain, but they are not going to be completely alone. The Sussexes will reportedly live outside of London as non-working royals but will still have a few trusted friends and acquaintances by their side, who could make their major move a little easier.
Markle and Harry, along with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are relocating to Britain after six years in California. The kids are expected to start school there in September. While their exact home and school are being kept private, their U.K. connections are already coming into focus. Among many others, Harry’s biggest support is his uncle, Charles Spencer.
Princess Diana’s brother has remained a defender of Harry and Prince William over the years and recently even offered the Sussexes accommodation at Althorp during their last visit. Harry also has a long-standing connection with his cousin Princess Eugenie. The pair have remained close despite reports of a falling-out, with a source previously insisting, “The Duke remains close to Princess Eugenie. They always have and always will be.”
While Eugenie is settled in Portugal, having just welcomed her third child, her bond with Harry is reportedly still going strong. Harry and Markle also have a holiday home in Portugal, and this shared connection could give them another reason to stay in touch. Other than that, there are Harry’s old friends.
Charlie van Straubenzee, whom Harry has known since his school days, remains part of his inner circle. Harry has also built strong friendships through the Invictus Games, including with JJ Chalmers and David Wiseman, who will be working with him ahead of the 2027 Games in Birmingham. Additionally, even Markle has a few friends in the UK as well.
Author Lindsay Jill Roth has remained one of her closest friends despite the distance between them. "We haven’t always lived in the same place at the same time, but we find ourselves connected through the same interests, or we’ll be thinking the same thing at the same time and message each other about it,” Roth told PEOPLE. She continued, “We laugh a lot. There’s just always been that level of support for each other. When you find someone that you are just 100% yourself with, it’s rare.”
Fashion designer Misha Nonoo, Soho House consultant Markus Anderson and PR professional Lucy Fraser are also among Markle’s British connections.
