Harry and Meghan’s ‘Bigger Plan’ Could Leave King Charles Facing Fresh Trouble, Says Expert
Harry and Meghan’s next step could have major consequences for Charles, though their plans remain unclear for now.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the UK along with their two children and have started a new chapter. However, their relationship with the Royal Family is allegedly looking far from peaceful. After King Charles made it clear that the couple remain non-working royals and should be treated as private citizens, royal commentators believe their next moves could bring more trouble for the monarch.
The latest move has only added to the tension after Uganda announced that it was pulling out of the Invictus Games. Though they've now rejoined after a private call from the King's secretary, they had previously stated that the country would not take part in any event without the King’s approval. It was against this backdrop that royal commentators began warning that the Sussexes’ next moves could cause even more trouble for Charles.
Speaking to TalkTV host Jeremy Kyle, royal authors Robert Jobson and Angela Levin discussed what could come next for the Sussexes and warned that Charles may have more to deal with. They suggested that the couple’s actions are “designed to manipulate,” while Levin said their next move could have “significant implications” for the King.
Levin explained, “I think that this whole thing is a game for them. They're going to punish the king because they feel that he's let them down when actually, it's those two who haven't done terribly well for themselves." She went on to explain the situation as “extremely upsetting” for Charles and suggested that the strain could be taking a toll on the monarch. She argued that Harry and Markle could be more considerate towards the King, particularly given his age and ongoing health struggles, and claimed their actions were “driving him mad.”
Jobson argued that Charles had little choice but to issue the letter, as he believed the Sussexes were beginning to push the boundaries of their position in Britain. “I think there's an agenda going on behind the scenes that we're not stupid. I'm sure both Angela and I and many others can see exactly what's going on, that it's all part of a bigger plan to attack the King the way he did,” the expert said.
As the Sussexes settle into their UK life, we will have to wait and see what they do next, and whether their next move brings any more trouble for Charles.
