Harry and Meghan Could Be 'Quaking in Their Boots’ as Queen Elizabeth’s Former Aide Plans New Film
The late Queen's close aide may spill the tea on an explosive incident that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle allegedly wouldn't want coming out.
Queen Elizabeth’s close aide and trusted dresser, Angela Kelly, is reportedly working on a film about their strong bond. The project on the surface sounds quite heartwarming, but the fact that Kelly was a witness to several controversial moments within the royal fold can spell trouble, especially for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who locked horns with her ahead of their 2018 wedding.
The Sussexes had a falling out with Kelly over Markle’s wedding tiara. Whether it was a misunderstanding or an unfair move on the royal dresser’s part is still unclear, but the situation found itself in the history books titled ‘Tiaragate’. Harry heavily criticized Kelly over the incident in his 2023 memoir, Spare. However, according to royal experts, something else went down at the time that the royal couple wouldn’t want coming out. Royal expert Charlotte Griffiths argued that the Duke of Sussex should be “quaking in his boots” over reports about the film. “The stuff Angela saw during Tiaragate. Apparently, there's another incident from around that time that they are praying does not come out in this drama,” she said via the Daily Mail.
Not many details about the film project have yet been disclosed. It is unclear whether it will be a documentary or a drama like the popular Netflix show, The Crown. However, it is bound to create ripples through the royal quarters considering Kelly was a “controversial” figure. As Griffiths added, “She was controversial; she was forthright, like a lot of people who work within the palaces. They become quite possessive of their fiefdom, and they guard it quite jealously.”
The close aide was reportedly “ushered” out of the Palace soon after the Queen’s demise in 2022. And extreme measures were taken to pull her out of the royal framework. “I had a story at the time (of the Queen's death) that they effectively changed the locks so she couldn't get back in. They ushered her out pretty blooming quickly,” Griffiths said. Kelly was “intrinsic” to the royal household and “they wanted her out, basically”.
Buckingham Palace is still reeling from the release of Charles Spencer’s new book about Princess Diana, which made several bombshell claims about her troubled marriage to King Charles. While the gilded cage has walls that have survived arguably greater storms, the frequency of blows has been at a record high in recent years.
Harry and Markle are currently in the UK with their kids for an extended stay and are busy resolving security issues as they settle into their new home.
