Expert Warns Fergie Could Use Eugenie’s Baby News as a Launchpad for ‘Some Form of Comeback'
Royal experts doubt Granny Fergie can resist breaking her months-long social media silence when Eugenie's third baby arrives.
Princess Eugenie’s joyous announcement that she is expecting her third child has delighted royal fans, but it has also sparked fresh fears regarding her mother, Sarah Ferguson’s, next move. Following the ‘happy news,’ observers are speculating whether the former Duchess of York will leverage this major family milestone to ease her way back into the spotlight. Highlighting this uncertainty, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, who has been one of the most vocal critics of the Yorks, admitted in a recent interview that Fergie’s forthcoming actions remain profoundly unpredictable.
Ferguson has been completely dark on social media since September 2025. As per reports, she is currently holed up at a luxury wellness resort in Austria, desperately keeping a low profile as the heat turns up on her contentious past ties with Jeffrey Epstein. But will Eugenie’s baby news trigger a public comeback for her mother? Fitzwilliams hinted that with Ferguson, you can never truly guess what she’ll do next. Speaking to GB News, he highlighted, “One never knows what passes through her mind or what she thinks could be a springboard for some form of comeback in some way.” While a new royal baby represents a moment of celebration, the royal expert noted that the timing raises uneasy questions, particularly as the Epstein investigation continues to cloud Eugenie’s parents.
Even though both Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ferguson deny any wrongdoing, and an appearance in the files doesn’t prove misconduct, the threat of more leaks still hangs over the family. “It's all very unfortunate in the context of happy news,” Fitzwilliams explained. He continued, “But one has to bear in mind that there may be a great deal more to come out still in the Epstein files…We haven't had anything recently, but then reports are that so much of it has been redacted or might come up in the future.” The expert suggested that political shifts in the United States could dictate when further details from the files are unsealed, potentially dragging the Yorks back into the headlines.
While controversies loom, HELLO!’s royal editor Emily Nash noted that as a doting grandmother at heart, Ferguson will find it “very hard to stay away” from the newest member of the family this year. “This baby will be born into very different family dynamics to those experienced by his or her older siblings,” Nash argued, pointing out that while the former Duke and Duchess spent a lot of time around Eugenie’s boys, August and Ernest, they’ll most likely keep their distance this time, though Nash doubts keeping granny Fergie away will be incredibly hard.
Calling it a hopeful moment after a very grim chapter, Nash remarked, “Regardless of all that has gone on with her parents, this is wonderful news for Princess Eugenie and will give the whole royal family something positive to focus on after a tough few months.” She also noted that King Charles’ warm words following the ‘happy news’ prove he hasn’t shut out his nieces, dropping a big hint they might start appearing at family events again.
