Meghan Markle has had to tackle a barrage of criticism in recent months as rumors were rife that she and Harry were unhappy and headed for a divorce. In light of the same, both Prince Harry and Markle have asserted in separate interviews that they're still in their 'honeymoon period'. Markle has also used her Instagram handle lately to share rare peaks of her life with Harry and kids in Montecito, sending the clear message that all is well. Reflecting on the same, a royal expert has hailed the Duchess of Sussex as a ‘fighter,' arguing that she's keen on proving who she is, not because of her royal title, but because of her humble beginnings.
Expert Jennie Bond recently told the Mirror that Markle is aware of the rumors and is determined to quash them. She said, “I think Meghan is a fighter,” given her continuous efforts to prove everyone wrong about her marriage. Bond said, “She will be aware that some people, particularly in the UK, believe rumours that Harry is unhappy, and she’s determined to show that they have a strong marriage and a happy family life.” She added, "I hope that’s true, and there’s no reason to disbelieve her."
Bond explained how Markle is trying to come out as a ‘strong character’ and a ‘successful businesswoman.’ She opined, “I think she’s also determined to show that she is a strong character and, from relatively humble beginnings, she has become a successful actress, and now an influencer and entrepreneur. I think she’s anxious to be seen as a successful businesswoman in her own right – and not just because she has lived briefly inside the Palace walls and has a royal title.”
Markle’s recent anniversary post, a mood board featuring her and Harry’s cherished memories, became a subject of much debate, and yet another clear message to the world that she and her family are happy. As the Duchess shared several never-seen-before photos from her, Harry, and their kids, many believed she acted as a 'teenager,' trying to prove a point. Others pointed out that she did not wish her husband on the anniversary post, but rather wished herself and thanked fans for their support. This had royal fans convinced Markle was putting on an act.
Amid the criticism, Markle is set to star in the second season of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The first season of the show made it to the Top 10 list on the streaming platform in 47 countries. While the audience was keen to see Harry make a cameo on the show, he is reportedly likely to be absent from Season 2 too. Interestingly, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos plans on only featuring Markle in future projects, whom he thinks is a ‘rock star'. While Markle continues to paint a happy picture, Harry seems to increasingly take on the role of a 'spare' in their marriage.
