Expert Claims Harry and Meghan Displayed "Out of Sync" Body Language During Cotswolds Outing
Honigman noted that Harry's choice to walk behind his wife while they were entering the pub showcased an "unsupportive" stance.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines with their first joint appearance since returning to the UK in August. The couple was spotted holding hands as they walked to The Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds for a cozy lunch, further fueling speculation that they are residing in the area. Dressed casually, Markle wore an all-black outfit, while Harry was in jeans and a jacket. Their meal included simple local favorites, including gluten-free haddock and chips along with a chicken, ham, and leek pie. But a body language analyst has suggested that their interaction appeared staged for the paparazzi.
Inbaal Honigman observed that the Sussexes' movements were "completely out of sync," indicating potential disharmony and friction through their contrasting gestures and expressions. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex display very different body language cues. They appear out of sync with each other during their first public U.S. outing, which could point to a potential clash," Honigman told The Daily Express. "As the two walk side by side to the pub, their body language fails to match at any point," she continued.
The body language analyst observed that while Harry looked straight ahead, Markle pointed and looked sideways, suggesting differing focuses. Additionally, the Duchess’s protective hand posture contrasted with the Duke's confident demeanor, evidenced by his long strides and freely swaying arms. She further pointed out that Harry touched his ear in a "sudden display of discomfort," whereas Markle maintained a "neutral, calm facial expression."
"It's almost as though the two are on completely different outings to different pubs," the expert highlighted. "Their mismatched body language communicates a period of disharmony within their household." Honigman further noted that Harry's choice to walk behind his wife as they entered the pub showcased an "unsupportive" stance, adding fuel to the rumors about trouble in paradise. Expanding on her analysis, she stated that the Duke should have instead walked alongside his wife or slightly behind to demonstrate that he "had her back."
"Harry's choice to maintain such a long gap between them is curious and could be another sign of potential friction between the couple," she added. Meanwhile, amid significant backlash over claims that the couple tipped off the paparazzi themselves, The Royal Observer associate editor, Josh Rom, joined News24 to weigh in on the situation.
"It comes to whether or not they're staged," Rom told News24's Digital Presenter, Gabriella Power. "All that I know from a showbiz perspective is paparazzi, you know, aren't necessarily that they're not like how they used to be. They don't stalk people the way they used to stalk. So perhaps they were tipped off. I don't know," he noted.
