Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were seen together for the first time since their recent move to the U.K. on Thursday, October 1. The couple was spotted at a local pub for a lunch date. According to sources, they received no royal treatment and were treated just like everyone else.

The Sun reported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held hands as they made their way to The Falkland Arms in the Cotswolds. The outlet published the photos the following day and offered a glimpse of the couple during their low-key outing.

Despite being royals, Harry and Markle appeared to have a surprisingly ordinary experience during their pub visit. A source from the pub told the outlet, “Everyone here gets the royal treatment; it doesn’t matter who you are. We’re lucky to get lots of different people visiting us, and everyone is treated like a local. When they visited, Harry and Meghan just acted like locals.”

The couple kept their outfits casual for the lunch. Markle wore sunglasses with a black sweater, dark pants and white sneakers, while Harry opted for jeans, a fall jacket and sunglasses. He also wore a Santa Barbara Fire Department baseball cap, a nod to their California life.

For lunch, Markle reportedly went for gluten-free beer-battered haddock and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce, while Harry chose chicken, ham and leek pie with seasonal greens, mashed potatoes and gravy.

Since returning to Britain, Harry has kept up a busy schedule of public engagements. He recently attended a black-tie gala supporting Ukraine, along with the WellChild Awards and the Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards. He also made a short trip to New York City, where his appearances included the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting, Skift Global Forum, and the National Geographic & De Beers Okavango Eternal event.

Meanwhile, Markle has kept a lower profile since their return, but she was recently spotted having lunch with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi at The Three Horseshoes pub. She has, however, offered a look at her family’s first few weeks in the U.K. on Instagram, which included relaxing walks and fishing in the countryside.
