British Actress Weighs In on Kate vs Meghan Debate — and Her Take Is Refreshingly Honest
Isabella Blake-Thomas also praised the Duchess’ As Ever brand for its practicality and purpose.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle represent contrasting public personas influenced by their backgrounds. Kate embodies tradition and poise, emphasizing royal duties and childhood development, while Meghan is modern and vocal, championing social issues such as female empowerment and racial equality, often at odds with royal traditions. Their differing approaches highlight the complexities of their roles, and a well-known British actress has highlighted her love for these two magnetic women.
Actress Isabella Blake-Thomas, who portrayed a princess in the Disney+ series Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, has sparked a viral debate by comparing Catherine and Meghan's royal wedding gowns while exploring modern “princess culture,” including themes like sustainability, entrepreneurship, and practical living. "I mean, I love Kate because it's [her wedding gown] so classic and iconic, but I love Meghan's individual style. I don't know why people pick," Blake-Thomas told Mirror U.S. reporter Angelica Cheyenne, during the MPTF NextGen Summer Party in Los Angeles.
"I have to say, though, I love that they both re-wear stuff. I was just talking about sustainability, and I'm big on that. I re-wear things constantly," she added while speaking about Kate and Markle's fashion style. The 23-year-old actress spoke about her love for breezy dresses, which she says is influenced by her British roots, and also shared her admiration for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In a surprising revelation, Blake-Thomas also recommended her favorite reading spot to the viewers, which has a special connection with Markle. "I love going up to the bookstore that's right near Meghan's house. It's called Godmothers. I highly recommend it if you're a bookworm like I am," she said. The Sussexes live in Montecito, California.
Despite the criticism, the young actress praised the Duchess's' As Ever brand, underlining the importance of practical things that have a true purpose. She further expressed that she was motivated to support Markle's brand after viewing her Netflix series, "With Love, Meghan." Blake-Thomas stated, "After watching her show and seeing how she lives her life, why wouldn't I want a piece of that?" The British actress also mentioned enjoying the experience of embodying a princess, referring to her role as Princess January in the Disney+ series.
With her candid confession, the ABC actress made it clear that she prefers Markle's modern twist to Kate's traditional ways. Maybe the Duchess' Hollywood connection and entrepreneurial lifestyle resonates with the younger independent generation. Meanwhile, Blake-Thomas joined a host of celebrities at the 2026 MPTF NextGen Summer Party, which included stars like Noah Wyle, Ken Kirby, and Yvette Nicole Brown. The annual event, hosted by Wyle, aimed to raise funds for the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF), which supports entertainment professionals in need. This year, the party raised $195,000 for the organization.
