Beatrice Urged to Follow in Eugenie's Footsteps to Make Her Marriage Work: 'She Has Two Choices'
Princess Beatrice's marriage is rumored to be falling apart due to the ongoing Andrew-Epstein saga.
Princess Beatrice has found herself in a soup that just seems to be thickening over time. First, it was the discovery of her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s, connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Then the former was stripped of his royal title. And more recently, there were rumours that her marriage to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is falling apart behind the scenes. Reportedly, the Italian real estate developer was afraid that his in-laws' involvement in the Epstein scandal might affect his work. Although friends of the couple have refuted the speculation, claiming it to be “complete nonsense”, former UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries believes that Beatrice needs to leave the UK to make “her marriage work”.
Newsweek quoted her statements from her column for the Daily Mail, as Dorries wrote: “It seems to me that Beatrice has two choices. The first is to make her marriage work, and for that to happen, she should follow in the footsteps of her sister — Eugenie is based in Portugal with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two sons—and leave the UK.” Mozzi had recently been to the US without Beatrice for a work trip, and Dorries believed that if that was where his business interests were, then the family should just move there.
“Their daughters are young, and if Edo’s business interests are mainly in the US, then that should be the destination. If the marriage is hard-going now, then it is only going to get trickier if they are apart for long periods,” Nadine explained. Currently, Beatrice and Mozzi reside at the Cotswolds country house in Oxfordshire with their two daughters, Sienna and Athena. However, Beatrice also maintains an apartment in St. James Palace in London.
She possibly had retained the house to have a base in the city if she ever visited it for royal appearances or engagements. But ever since Andrew’s royal title was taken away in October last year, both Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been keeping a low profile.
There have been rising calls to strip the York sisters of their titles as well. Their position within the monarchy has also become extremely precarious over time with reports suggesting that they only have their uncle, King Charles, on their side from the family.
The princesses had found themselves in an awkward situation after the Epstein files were released earlier this year, as they included messages from their mother, Sarah Ferguson, mentioning their names. She had reportedly taken Beatrice and Eugenie to see Epstein in New York while he was in house arrest after pleading guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor. According to reports, the convicted financier also asked Fergie if they could give his friends a tour of Buckingham Palace. However, apparently, on at least one occasion, that couldn’t be possible as the two were away.
