Beatrice and Eugenie’s Situation Is ‘Going to Get a Lot Worse’ Amid Dwindling Palace Support
After Beatrice and Eugenie helped their parents soften the fallout of their actions, speculation arose about their position in the Firm.
Just when pubic sympathy began to build for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie amid their parents' scandals, fresh revelations in the Epstein files appeared to change that perception. After it was revealed that the sisters had helped their parents soften the fallout of their controversial actions, speculation arose that they, too, would be stripped of their royal titles. Weighing in on their delicate situation, royal expert Camilla Tominey warned their circumstances may worsen, claiming the Palace had washed its hands of them long ago.
As reported by Wales Online, in an episode on the Daily T podcast, Tominey read aloud a text message from a 'royal insider' which stated, "The York sisters' stuff is going to get a lot worse. They've escaped a lot of the scrutiny, but there's a lot of information on them and their associations with Epstein, along with their parents." To which, Furness replied, "There does seem to be this rumbling idea that there is more to discover." She added that while some sources have claimed the Princesses are "up to their necks," there is currently no evidence suggesting they were involved in controversial actions.
Additionally, the experts argued that while the 'mood music' around the sisters was initially favorable in the Palace, things are far from cordial now. Furness stressed, "That seems to have gone a little bit quiet in the last few weeks. I'm not sure the girls feel as supported as they did by the Palace." Noting the uncertainty about how much support Beatrice and Eugenie now have from King Charles, she continued, "They're sort of in this vacuum of suggestions and rumours and questions, but not very many answers for them, and that must be frustrating."
Tominey's and Furnesses's revelations come just days after a report in The Daily Mail alleged that Prince William had banned Beatrice and Eugenie from attending Royal Ascot. Moreover, Page Six reported that the Prince of Wales has advised senior royals against appearing in photographs with the Princesses "for the rest of the year." The move, sources suggest, is an attempt to shield the working royals from further reputational damage as scrutiny intensifies around the York household. Unsurprisingly, the sisters are said to be 'blindsided' by this decision.
According to a royal source who spoke to Vanity Fair, discussions about the York sisters' future roles were already underway in November, even before the most recent developments. "It was something that was being looked at before recent events, but despite what has happened with Andrew, it's not off the cards. Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking, and want to help if they can." For now, the sisters are said to be desperately clinging to their royal titles, as their royal residences are allegedly under review. Despite choosing the Crown over their parents at Christmas, that loyalty appears to carry little weight with William, who reportedly wants the scandal 'dealt with' once and for all.
