"Absolute Incandescence": Piers Morgan Weighs In on William and Harry's Deepening Divide
William's close friends have revealed that the upcoming anniversary is a "difficult situation," and he remains quite emotional about it.
Princess Diana's upcoming 30th death anniversary has sparked fresh royal friction between estranged brothers Prince William and Prince Harry. William wants to pay dignified respects to their late mother, while Harry is reportedly headlining an emotional documentary tribute under the Archwell Foundation banner. The Prince of Wales is adamant about avoiding cinematic projects, having reportedly turned down multiple offers to take part. According to Newsweek, back in 2017, he clearly stated during interviews commemorating Diana's 20th death anniversary that it was a one-time occurrence, and he would not discuss her in that public manner again. In light of William's firm stance, Piers Morgan has weighed in, claiming that the Windsor brothers' rift has only widened further.
"Well, they don't speak to each other and haven't done so for years," Morgan told Fox News Digital. He further claimed that William is "absolutely incandescent with anger about what his little brother did in trashing the royal family," including "writing books, doing Netflix documentary shows, doing podcasts, always dumping on the family, and attacking his wife, Catherine, attacking Camilla, attacking King Charles."
The veteran journalist further extended his support to William, stating his sympathy was with the Prince of Wales, who is a decent young man deeply frustrated by his brother. "Harry took out the spray gun," Morgan added. "And when you do that, then family members who are on the receiving end aren't going to like it." According to The Times, William aims to avoid being "pitted against" Harry through filmmaking, viewing his previous tributes as a form of public "catharsis."
Sources have reportedly confirmed that the Duke of Sussex has discussed various projects, including the possibility of a film. Netflix, which holds a "first look" deal with the Sussexes and previously collaborated with them on a six-part docuseries in 2022, is reportedly attached to this project. William is already troubled by Earl Spencer’s memoir about their late mother, which he found "difficult" after receiving little warning about its critical content regarding the King and the royal family. The book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, also disclosed that one of the Windsor brothers had requested that their uncle consider participating in the alleged documentary.
William's close friends have revealed that the upcoming anniversary is a "difficult situation," and he remains quite emotional about it. They too claimed that his public contributions to the 20th anniversary of Diana's death served as "a final call" he isn't inclined to revisit. Although Kensington Palace declined to comment, friends believe he will likely commemorate it privately, despite not having made a definitive decision about how to mark the occasion.
