In Photos: Princess Kate’s Quiet Nod to Charlotte on Day 2 of Italy Tour

Accessories, no matter how big or small, often have the power to convey the biggest emotional meanings. As she stepped out for her second day of royal engagements, Kate Middleton didn’t fail to charm royal fans by wearing a precious accessory linked to her children, including Princess Charlotte, and of course, fans can't stop gushing about it.

On the second day of her solo royal tour, Middleton was spotted wearing a gray Blaze Milano blazer and a flowing cream skirt at Salvador Allende preschool in Reggio Emilia. Her visit was all about observing how nature-based learning is essential for kids introduced by educators during early childhood years. This area was very connected to Kate’s work through the Center of Early Childhood. Yet, it was her wrist accessory that got the people talking. During her appearance, Kate’s wrist was covered in several friendship bracelets, which are an accessory closely associated with her kids, especially Princess Charlotte, since musician Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in London.

The bracelets were of utmost importance since both Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended Taylor Swift’s most talked-about concert in London alongside William in 2024. The pop icon is famously known for encouraging her fans who come to her shows to “make friendship bracelets,” leading to a globally known trend that even reached the royal family. 

Charlotte was later spotted wearing a friendship bracelet at Wimbledon as well that summer. At the same time, King Charles and Duchess Sophie have also appeared, making similar accessories at separate engagements. Hence, the bracelets, since then, have become very symbolic for the family. While Kate’s bracelet choice may have come off casual at first, she later added a refined royal touch to the trend. As per the designer, the bracelet came from the Italian label Atelier Molayem and also had 9k yellow gold cubes with the initials of her kids carved on it.

The friendship bracelets have also carried more emotional significance during other royal engagements. Earlier this year, William and Kate were also spotted in matching friendship bracelets as they met families affected by the Southport knife attacks. It was a gesture that was widely interpreted as a gesture of solidarity and unity. Kate also paired her bracelets in Italy with her noted sapphire engagement ring stack and amethyst and diamond jewelry by Kiki McDonough, which she debuted during an appearance in Belfast in 2019. The blend of sentimental and formal pieces reflected the intense personal direction of Kate’s royal style. 

The heartfelt fashion moment took place during the especially important trip for the Princess. The Italy visit is her first time touring overseas since announcing her cancer diagnosis in 2024 and revealing she was in remission at the start of 2025. On Wednesday, she received a warm welcome in Reggio Emilia while wearing a turquoise Edeline Lee pantsuit on the first day of engagements.
