Blooming With Stars
The royal family has long championed the preservation of nature, and one reflection of that commitment is the Royal Horticultural Society, which was established in 1804. The society has been hosting flower shows since 1833, first in West London and later in Kensington, before the event became a celebrated fixture in Chelsea. On Monday, May 18, the historic Chelsea Flower Show marked its 113th year, and while several royals attended the beloved annual tradition, the event was also attended by prominent names from the entertainment world.
Royal Flower Affair
King Charles, for the day, looked sharp in a navy tux as he toured the garden, checking out the flowers, including the unique striped-pattern English shrub rose in fuchsia pink and white, named after him. The flower took 12 years to be created. Inspired by the traditional Japanese courtyard, the flower show also featured the Tokonoma Garden, which soon became the main attraction of the event. As expected, the event was attended by several royal members and even a few celebrities who made the show truly a success.
Royals Unite
Right by her husband, Queen Camilla was seen attending the evening looking radiant as ever in a Fiona Clare jacket paired with a black and white floral dress, which was styled with her Bottega Veneta “Casette” clutch and black pumps. Alongside the Queen, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, also attended the event, with the former looking poised and graceful in an ivory coat dress and an emerald, sapphire, and ruby-encrusted floral brooch to match the occasion.
Sophie Stuns in Pink
Another senior royal, the Duchess of Edinburgh, also attended the show in a pink coat with matching trousers and a floral print shirt. She paired it with a jute bag and nude pumps. She was accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, and apart from the couple, Lady Amelia Windsor, Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin and 44th in the line of succession, also attended the event. The diva looked stunning, dressed in a green and purple floral print maxi dress from the Madrid-based clothing brand, Sophie and Lucie.
Straight Outta Bridgerton
Bridgerton is hands down one of the most popular shows at the moment, depicting the Regency era in England, and surprisingly, at the Chelsea Flower Show, Lady Danbury, aka Adjoa Andoh, was in attendance. She was dressed in a pastel green tweed two-piece suit paired with a black long-sleeve shirt underneath, and the diva completed her look with a pair of sunnies. Golda Rosheuvel, Queen Charlotte herself, was also in attendance, looking stylish as ever in a black tailored suit with a bright silk scarf adding a pop of color to her OOTD.
Chelsea’s Famous Faces
Ruth Gemmell, who plays Violet Bridgerton in the show, was also seen at the event looking radiant in an all-black ensemble featuring a satin skirt with a black top and a denim jacket. Along with her, landscape designer Catherine MacDonald was also at the event, and it looked like no less than a Bridgerton reunion bash. The other bigwigs who attended the show were the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, food critic and chef Mary Berry, and Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall, among others.
Knight David
Like every other year, David Beckham was also at the event and was seen checking out the flowers alongside King Charles. The retired footballer has often been seen supporting the royal charities and also has a deep interest in horticulture. Recently being honored with knighthood, the former footballer is now as close as ever to the royal family.
