Thomas Kingston's 'Impulse Decision': Bereaved Lady Gabriella Windsor Shares Devastating Truth About 'Depressed' Husband's Final Moments

Bereaved lady Gabriella Windsor gave an 'emotional' testimony in court where she suggested Thomas Kingston's medication led to his death.

Thomas Kingston was experimenting with a cocktail of antidepressants and controlled sleep aids in the weeks leading up to his tragic death in February, according to his grieving widow, Lady Gabriella Windsor, 43.

"It seems highly likely to me that he had an adverse reaction to the pills that led him to take his life," King Charles III's cousin said in an "emotional" statement.

The aristocrat wept openly in court on Tuesday, December 3, and revealed, "The fact that he took his life at the home of his beloved parents suggests the decision was the result of a sudden impulse."

Kingston tried sertraline, citalopram and zopiclone to battle depression and insomnia but suddenly quit taking the pills days before he ended his life. Studies have shown that suddenly stopping antidepressants can cause intense withdrawal symptoms depending on how long an individual takes the medication.

This led Lady Gabriella to state, "I believe anyone taking pills such as these need to be made more aware of the side effects to prevent any future deaths. If this could happen to Tom, this could happen to anyone."

Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who rarely represents the King and Queen Camilla at royal events. Thomas and Lady Gabriella were married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2019, in a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The aristocratically-titled writer for The London Magazine met Thomas, a financier, and became engaged for marriage in 2018.

A February statement on behalf of Lady Gabriella and Thomas's family read, "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson further shared, "The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."

In April, Lady Gabriella reportedly moved into a vacant apartment in Kensington Palace, which is the official residence of numerous royals, including Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales. It is also the main residence of her parents, whom the royal wished to live near.

A source disclosed, "They [Prince and Princess Michael of Kent] wanted Ella to be with them, and she didn't want to be alone in the home she shared with Tom. All of us are rallying around, and she's going to be OK."
