'SNL' UK Takes a Brutal Dig at Ex-Prince Andrew: 'You're Not Going to Like This Next Bit'

Wasting no time at all, anchors SNL UK's Ania Magliano and Paddy Young set their sights on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The British comedy landscape drastically shifted on Saturday night as the long-awaited SNL UK finally made its debut. The premiere was anchored by a monologue from guest host Tina Fey, featuring appearances by Graham Norton and Nicola Coughlan, but the true highlight was the first ‘Weekend Update’ segment. Anchors Ania Magliano and Paddy Young wasted no time—targeting the Royal Family’s most controversial figure, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Following his February 19 arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the former Duke has become the new favorite target for British satires. During the ‘Update’ segment, Magliano mocked his current housing transition, noting, “Renovations to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's new home, Marsh Farm, have been taking place over the last month, including the installation of Sky TV… So, if you're watching, Andrew, hello. You're not going to like this next bit. Also, I'm older than I look,” she said. Magliano didn’t hold back and cheekily quipped, “Andrew's new residence, Marsh Farm, is of course named after the nearby marsh where his body will be found.” Young soon took over the segment, focusing on news that the police investigation into Mountbatten-Windsor is expanding. He observed, “The big question now is if Andrew is charged, found guilty, and put in prison, will he be able to keep his mouth shut? 'I hope not,' said his cellmate's p-------.”

The SNL UK roast is just the latest in a series of high-profile jokes aimed at the disgraced royal. Just a week before the London premiere, Harry Styles hosted the American version of the show, using his monologue to compare his own quiet personal life to the former Prince’s mounting legal troubles. He told the audience, “I can assure you, there's something nice about being boring”—an assessment that felt undeniable as the screen flashed with the infamous photo of Mountbatten-Windsor in a police car. This wave of ridicule isn’t a new trend; in fact, comedian Jack Whitehall had already set the tone during the 2026 BRIT Awards.

Addressing the ongoing parliamentary and Commonwealth debate regarding the line of succession, Whitehall used the stage to poke fun at the former Prince. “The only man posher than me at the Brits,” he said of James Blunt, before noting that the singer “was about 30th in line to the throne… might be 29th soon.” The joke—which left the room in splits—masked a harsh reality for the former Prince. There is now a genuine international push to see the disgraced royal officially removed from his eighth spot in the line of succession—with countries like Australia and New Zealand already backing the move.

With SNL UK now live and the ‘Weekend Update’ desk officially open for business, it seems Mountbatten-Windsor’s new Sky TV subscription will be providing him with plenty of content he won’t like. Between the sharp-tongued anchors and the global political shift against him, the walls are officially closing in.
