Sarah Ferguson Didn’t Disappear — She Leaned on a Loyal Friend Instead
While we do get the occasional glimpses of the disgraced ex-Duke, Ferguson has managed to remain hidden from even the sharpest eyes! How? The reason, is surprisingly simple.
Ever since Sarah Ferguson moved out of the Royal Lodge in Windsor, Berkshire, along with ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, her whereabouts have remained unknown. The former Duchess of York and Prince Andrew were named multiple times in the latest batch of Epstein files released by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 30, 2026. Following that, they were stripped of their titles and withdrew from public life. And while we do get the occasional glimpses of the disgraced ex-Duke, Ferguson has managed to remain hidden from even the sharpest eyes! Until now...that is.
According to a report by The Mirror, one of Fergie's more endearing qualities came in handy for the elusiveness. According to a friend of Fergie, the former Duchess's privacy is intact because “She is a very loyal friend. She never forgets a birthday, always sends a present. Nothing flash, just kind and sweet and thoughtful.” The friend continued, “The only people who don't like her are the ones who haven't really met her. She is generous to a fault — and it is a fault. She would give you her last fiver, which is probably why she's in this mess in the first place.” Simply put, Fergie's loyalty ensured that her closest pals were ready to extend a helping hand. The point was elaborated by Sarah Vine, a Daily Mail columnist.
"She is, when you think about it, the most famous missing person in the UK. And yet she hasn't been photographed once, despite the best efforts of His Majesty's Press," Vine said. Fergie's secret? "Good mates. Someone as recognisable as Fergie doesn't remain that well-hidden without some serious back-up, funds and transport — and the generosity of friends," Sarah noted. Andrew, on the other hand, has moved to a place on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. And while it certainly was surprising to see the former Prince's ardent supporter leave him, a source said it was about time: “She has stood by him all these years but is now ready to spread her wings. She won't be moving in with him to the new house on the Sandringham Estate.”
There is also growing talk that Ferguson could be questioned as the probe into Andrew continues. He is still out under investigation after his February 19 arrest. Andrew had already lost his royal title back in October 2025, when King Charles stripped it after his Epstein ties resurfaced. According to a close friend of Ferguson, the whole situation has reportedly been a sobering moment for her. The source told PEOPLE, “She always thinks she can bounce back. But this isn’t something that can blow over.”
Recently, rumors had been swirling around that Ferguson had supposedly considered cloning the Queen’s dogs for a reality show. When Queen Elizabeth passed away in 2022, her two corgis, Muick and Sandy, were taken in by her and Andrew. However, a source close to Sarah denied the reports. The representative told PEOPLE, “Ms. Ferguson regularly receives varied TV offers and proposals — often for reality shows which she always declines… to be absolutely clear, she declined the proposal regarding a reality TV show involving the late Queen’s corgis.”
It was first reported by the Daily Mail back which stated that back in May 2023, that Ferguson had been in talks with a few U.S. production companies. Reportedly, in the pitch, the plan was for her to set up a company called ‘The Queen’s Corgis,’ where cloned versions of the dogs would be bred and sold.
