Prince Harry sat down with the BBC for a bombshell interview hours after losing his appeal for state-funded security. In the interview, the Duke of Sussex alleged that the royal family was responsible for his security being stripped. Harry asserted that it was a ploy to 'trap' him in the UK and discourage him from moving to the UK. As the claims sent shockwaves within the Firm, royal expert Emily Nash revealed the brutal way King Charles and Prince William found out about the interview.

Speaking on Hello!’s Right Royal podcast, Nash said, “There was a very brief awareness-raising at the Palace shortly before it broadcast...What I understand is that there were, potentially, discussions that might have happened as a result of the case now having been concluded.” As per reports, the Firm had expected a move from Harry if the result didn't sway his way.

Chiming in on the Duke’s feud with his father and brother, Nash squashed any possibilities of a reunion. She explained, “He [Charles] couldn't be seen to intervene on his son's behalf or get involved in government matters, his son is suing His Majesty’s government, you know he needed to stay right out of this situation.” She added, “But once that had concluded, there was potentially a path to some kind of rapprochement, some kind of olive branch being offered. And I get the sense that that was the mood music, but that really quickly got switched off once the interview landed.”

Nash’s claims of Charles's initial hesitation to talk to Harry were echoed by another royal expert. As reported by the Daily Express, Sarah Hewson explained, “There is absolutely no way that the King could be seen to be intervening in this at all. Even an innocuous comment that could have been interpreted in a way and find its way into evidence in the court by Prince Harry's barrister.” She added, “And we are learning that the distance between them is perhaps greater than ever.”

In his BBC sit-down, the Duke of Sussex made many salacious revelations about his family. One of them saw him claim that his estranged family “signaled to every single government around the world not to protect [him, Markle, and their kids].” While William has remained tight-lipped on the matter, a friend of his told the Daily Beast that “he has no interest in reconciling” with his brother. Meanwhile, a friend of the monarch told The Sun that Charles was 'frustrated and upset' at Harry’s decision to air his grievances publicly again. Undeterred, the King reportedly remains focused on his royal duties and cancer treatment.
