Revealed: What Was Said To The Crowd Before Meghan And Harry Arrived In Nottingham
Meghan and Prince Harry’s first UK outing as a couple took them to Nottingham, but one royal editor noticed something about the crowd’s welcome.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been working hard to establish their presence in the United Kingdom following their unexpected, grand return. In fact, they recently made their first public appearance as a couple. For this. They first traveled to Nottingham, England. There, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out to meet with locals and volunteers from several charitable organizations and took part in various activities. This city held particular importance for the former royal couple. After all, it was the site of their first royal walkabout, which took place after their engagement back in 2017.

Following the visit, a spokesperson for the couple shared their impressions of the day. A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan even told PEOPLE that, “Everyone came away feeling really positive and genuinely thrilled by the love and support they received.”
Other accounts of the day have since emerged. Comments on a HELLO! podcast have drawn attention to the crowd’s reception. The outlet's correspondent was reportedly in Nottingham. Editorial Director Andrea Caamano told A Right Royal Podcast that the correspondent said people from the charity spoke to the crowd before the couple emerged.

Caamano described what she was told, and offered her own interpretation. She explained on the A Right Royal Podcast, “At the second engagement she did say to us that people from the charity, not related obviously to Harry and Megan, did come out before they arrived and told the crowds, 'Make sure you cheer very loudly when they come out' and 'You can say, Meghan, I love you', which I thought was strange. But I wonder if the charity was maybe worried. They did see a big crowd, and you never know how the crowd is going to respond. So I wonder if they were warming them up before their arrival."

The podcast panel also discussed why Nottingham may have been chosen for the visit. HELLO!'s Royal Editor Emily Nash explained that Harry and Markle have a dedicated following, but the people of Nottingham, in particular, feel very warmly toward them because of their long-standing connection. She further added, “I'm not sure that might have been the same in other parts of the country, but as we've already discussed, I think it was definitely a safe place for them to go to and know they would receive that kind of welcome.”
