In shocking revelations that will stun the world, the newly unearthed diaries of Princess Diana27 years after her death — paint a poignant portrait of the beloved but lonely beauty.

Hidden away in an old, unused bureau drawer deep within Kensington Palace, these intimate writings lay undiscovered for decades, only coming to light as palace staff moved furniture during a recent renovation.

Here's what's inside.

The contents of these diaries reveal a side of Diana that the public has never fully seen, a woman weighed down by the anguish and despair of her tumultuous marriage to then-Prince Charles. The pages are filled with the raw emotions of a woman who felt trapped in a loveless marriage, her fairy-tale romance turned nightmare.

"I dreamt of a love that would sweep me off my feet," she wrote in one particularly heartbreaking passage, "but the loneliness is suffocating."

These revelations provide a stark contrast to the glamorous image the world saw, exposing the emotional scars hidden behind her radiant smile and regal demeanor. Diana had started to fill her diaries after her fairy-tale marriage to the Prince of Wales in 1981 turned out to be a sham, which shockingly included his mistress, Camilla Parker Bowles.

"I knew it and couldn't do anything about it," she revealed

Immediately after Charles and Diana exchanged vows, he became distant and disinterested. While they were on their honeymoon at Broadlands — the Hampshire estate where Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip spent time as a young couple — Charles immediately unpacked his books and settled down to read.

"I thought, you know, it was just grim," the princess scribled. "I just had tremendous hope in me, which was slashed by day two."

For aspiring King Charles, their union had everything to do with duty and little to do with love and passion. But Diana wrote, "I was brought up in the sense that, you know, when you got engaged to someone, you love them."

Lady Di recalled the "ghastly" press conference when a newsman asked the supposedly happy couple, "Are you in love?"

The bride-to-be answered, "Yes, of course, we are." But heartless Charles added, "Whatever 'in love' means."

Diana wrote in her diary, "That threw me completely. Oh God. Absolutely traumatized me ... It was isolating."

Diana's emotional pain was so severe, she tried to take her own life. She even admitted throwing herself down a flight of stairs. "Charles said I was crying wolf, and I just felt so desperate and I was crying my eyes out," she confessed. Seemingly unmoved, Charles left to go horseback riding. It wasn’t the only time she attempted suicide.

"I was trying to cut my wrists with razor blades," she said. "I was so depressed."

The birth of sons William and Harry gave her a reason to go on. Firstborn William arrived on June 21, 1982, and Harry made his entrance on September 15, 1984. Diana gushed about both of her precious boys in her diaries. "I live for my sons. I’d be lost without them. They are the light of my life."

As Charles flaunted his relationship with future wife Camilla, Diana also had a famous list of lovers over the years, including bodyguard Barry Mannakee, James Gilbey, James Hewitt, Oliver Hoare, Dr. Hasnat Khan and finally Dodi Fayed, who died beside her in a Paris tunnel crash. The men’s love and attention helped her through her difficult marriage and divorce.

From her diaries:

June 11, 1989: "Had a long lunch. Oh, to feel like a woman again! C. has ignored me for months and I am suffering greatly. Well, no more. He told me I am beautiful and desirable."

October 13, 1989: "I was spotted last night! C. and his mother are furious."

August 7, 1990: "The hay was warm and so was his skin against mine. I feel so alive."

December 1992: "C. and I have finally made the decision we’ve avoided for so long. I will now finally be free."

Diana simply didn’t think her ex was "cut out to be king" or had the right temperament to lead the British Empire. She opened up about Charles’ future, questioning whether "The Boy Wonder," as she referred to Charles, could step into the role when the time came.

"The truth is that Charles would be much happier living in Tuscany, painting the landscape or studying architecture," said Diana. "He’s stuck in a rut... He’s self-involved, spoiled, petulant and like the rest of the royal family, emotionally strangulated."

She also felt vaguely sorry for him because he was probably humiliated to be upstaged, literally shoved aside by people who wanted to look at his "wildly popular young wife!"

This idea was "unthinkable," says an insider, referring to the woman Diana referred to as "The Rottweiler" — now Queen Camilla. But despite the strength of her feelings, the princess "recognized the strength of the love between Charles and Camilla." Toward the end of her life, she came to admire them for the unbreakable bond they shared. It was the kind of love she had been desperately searching for, but sadly never really found.

That didn’t mean she ever thought Charles would make a good king, however. She wanted William to be "the next person crowned at Westminster Abbey."

To William: "My fondest dream is for you and Harry to have a life filled with joy. Family is the most important thing in life. Cherish your children for me. They carry my heart. Let them know I love them and will always watch over them," she wrote.

Lady Di urged the brothers and their wives to protect each other and stay united, foreseeing the challenges that the royal spotlight would inevitably bring. "Stay close, my darlings," she wrote. "Lean on each other and let love be your guide through the tumultuous waters of public life."

William and Harry reportedly have not spoken to one another since September 2022.

Tragically, Diana’s sage advice was not heeded, and the rift between William and Harry has become a public spectacle, casting a shadow over the royal family — which would have broken her heart. The diaries serve as a bittersweet reminder of what could have been.

One of the most photographed women in history's final entries was ominous.

"This particular phase in my life is one most dangerous — my husband is planning 'an accident' in my car," she wrote. "Brake failure and serious head injury in order to make the path clear for him to marry Camilla."
