Prince Harry’s Close Friend Reveals His Stance on Public Engagements After UK Return
Prince Harry's close friend believes that he would apparently "do whatever they [the Palace] want him to!"
After returning to the UK with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly settling in well, choosing their new home just outside of London. According to a recent report by The Times, the Sussexes are well aware that their grand return and proximity to the Royal family, however, will not guarantee invitations to any royal events.
This means Harry will likely mark Remembrance Sunday with his military charities and not join Prince William and King Charles for the annual parade. Discussing his stance on public engagements, a friend of the Duke told HELLO!, “Harry will do whatever they want him to do.”
For those unversed, the Sussexes’ proposed ‘half in-half out’ royal model was rejected by the late Queen Elizabeth. And when Harry and Markle made their decision to leave, the late Queen, however, had reportedly made it known that the Sussexes and their children “would always be much loved members of my family."
Furthermore, the Palace also issued an official statement back in the day. It read: “As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties. With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty." Beyond this, the Palace’s statement also made it clear that the Sussexes will no longer be using their HRH titles.
Since his reunion with King Charles last September at Clarence House, the Duke has reportedly also agreed to share his calendar with the Palace to avoid any clash of schedules that risks upstaging official royal events. For now, it seems like the Duke is bouncing back well after his 'grand homecoming.' In fact, he has already announced one of his first engagements. According to reports, he will be skydiving alongside fellow veterans in honor of the celebrated World War 2 veteran, Ed Marshall. This engagement will also support Sunnybrook and the True Patriot Love Foundation for the welfare of veterans in Canada.
