Prince Harry Was Upset by Princess Charlotte’s Adorable 11th Birthday Portrait: Report
Prince Harry saw Charlotte's birthday photo and was reminded of what Archie and Lilibet are missing.
While the rest of the world cooed at Princess Charlotte’s adorable birthday portrait, released by Prince William and Kate Middleton last week, it had a rather different effect on her uncle, Prince Harry. After seeing his niece’s 11th birthday photo, Harry was reportedly saddened by the realization that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are not close to the British side of their family.
While Archie was born in the UK, he was only a few months old when Harry and Meghan Markle shifted to the US in early 2020. On the other hand, Lilibet was born stateside. It is highly unlikely that the Sussexes have kept in touch with their British relatives post the controversial move. As per Page Six, a source close to Harry told the Daily Mail journalist, Richard Eden, “Archie and Lili are having a lovely time in California, but Harry is very sad that they are missing out on life with the rest of their family.”
Archie and Lilibet are no doubt surrounded by loved ones in Montecito, including their maternal grandmother, Doria Ragland. However, Harry believes they are “missing out on the extensive family network” that their cousins, Prince George, Charlotte, and Prince Louis get to enjoy in the UK. The sentiment might also be shared by Markle, who had previously said she was excited to marry into a large family after growing up in a smaller family.
Noting that Harry wants the “best education” for his kids, the source further added, “He has retained his closest friendship group of confidants from his days at school at Ludgrove and Eton. He wants that for his own children.” When contacted for a statement, the Sussexes reportedly refused to comment on “private family matters”.
Harry has always spoken at length about his desire to reconcile with his family. However, the situation has never seemed to improve. Currently, the Duke of Sussex is awaiting a review on the reinstatement of his automatic police protection in the UK, a privilege he had lost after leaving the monarchy. The Duke of Sussex had previously claimed that he would not be able to bring Markle and their children to the UK without security. As per PEOPLE!, he had earlier said, “I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland,” further adding, “The things that they’re (Archie and Lilibet) going to miss is, well, everything.”
Archie and Lilibet had visited the UK in 2022 for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth. The visit marked the last time they got to meet their great-grandmother, as the monarch passed away a few months later. While Harry and Markle had returned to the UK for the funeral service, the children had not accompanied them.
