Prince Harry's successful September reunion with King Charles boiled down to one realization: that family comes before everything. He now appears eager to pass that reflection on to Meghan Markle, who has also remained estranged from her father, Thomas Markle. Thomas, currently in intensive care in the Philippines following emergency surgery, is reportedly longing to reconnect with his daughter. A source close to the Sussexes revealed that, given Thomas's condition, Harry is urging Meghan to mend fences with her father before it is too late.

Royal columnist Rob Shuter claimed to have spoken to various sources about the situation and documented their accounts on his Substack. According to him, an insider shared, "Harry knows estrangement. He made peace with his dad; now he wants Meghan to have the same chance. He's been saying, 'Don't wait, do it now.'" Similarly, another source echoed, "She needs to see how serious this is. This isn't about headlines, it's about family." A close pal also cautioned that if Meghan chooses 'silence' over 'family,' she risks losing her father.

Insiders also told Shuter that Thomas moved to the Philippines partly to escape the constant reminders of his estrangement from his daughter. One explained, "Every day there was a story about Meghan and Harry."

While Harry appears hell-bent on reconnecting Meghan and Thomas, sources said his push is softer, compassionate, and very much a 'lead by example' moment. "He's showing Meghan what reconciliation looks like. And he hopes she takes it." A long-time friend of Thomas also confided, "Thomas has been through strokes, heart attacks, and more — the man has survived Hollywood-level drama. But this time? It does not look good."

Thomas was rushed to the hospital on December 2 and has been 'fighting for his life.' He is reportedly placed into intensive care and will now undergo a second procedure to remove a blood clot.

For his part, Thomas has previously stressed that he would not lose hope and would never stop attempting to reconcile with his daughter. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, he insisted that he would keep talking to the media until Meghan and Harry contacted him. He said, "I would love to hear from them. When they decide to talk to me, I'll stop talking to the press." He added, "I'd like to say sorry for what I've done, but this was two years ago. I've tried to make up for it. But these stories in the paper are because I haven't heard from you."

Meghan and Thomas have remained estranged since before her royal wedding. In the months leading up to it in 2018, Thomas's decision to pose for staged paparazzi photos sparked a rift between them, ultimately causing him to miss his daughter's nuptials. He later leaked Meghan's private letters, in which she had asked him to stop engaging with the press. Beyond that, he has continued giving interviews about their feud.
