Sussex Deportation Showdown: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Brace for Battle as Donald Trump Targets Their American Dream
Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, have reportedly decided not to give in to Donald Trump's "deportation threats" following his recent election victory.
"There are no plans [for the Sussexes] to move from the U.S.," a Sussex insider revealed.
Another source spilled, "Harry and Meghan feel at home in California, and they won't be leaving there without a fight. They have a very good legal team, and they have a lot of support behind them to ensure that they will be able to remain in the United States."
Nile Gardiner, the director of the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, told an outlet, "If Harry did lie on his immigration application, he would have to leave the United States. That would be a criminal offense, and he would be subject to deportation from the United States."
The former Rudy Giuliani, 80, advisor added, "In terms of where he would go, Canada is the most likely destination I would have thought."
The president-elect, 78, previously said of the Duke of Sussex, "I wasn't [a fan] from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly and I think someday he will regret it. I think Harry's been used and been used terribly. I think it's ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen. She is trying to do things that I think are very inappropriate."
Before this statement, the then-sitting president said of the duo in 2020, "I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!"
The Duke's past could very well come back to haunt him if he did lie on the application.
The former working royal, who earned the nickname "Harry Pothead" by the British press in the 2000s, admitted to taking cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms in his autobiography.
"I stared at the bin," Harry wrote about his experience with the hallucinogens. "It stared back. 'What-staring? ' Then it became... a head. I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin."
The prince was also a headline-maker during his late teens and twenties, which included a brawl with a paparazzo outside a London nightclub in 2004.
This follows conflicting reports sharing that the former actress is reportedly following her good friend Ellen DeGeneres' decision to exit America after the President-elect's victory. Trump defeated his Democrat opponent Vice President Kamala Harris, 60, by what some outlets are calling "a clear landslide."
Times of India reported on the insider revelations.
