Prince Harry May Have Moved to California — but He Refuses to Give Up One Part of His Old Life
Prince Harry's move to the US hasn't weakened his support for England, and Archie may already be following his lead.
Prince Harry’s move to leave the UK and settle in California might have come off as a major shift away from his roots, but there is one part of his identity he seemingly has not been willing to let go of. Despite making his royal exit and giving up on his old life, he still refuses to give up on a part of himself that is very much British! Yes, it is his love for the English football and rugby teams.
Sports have always been a big part of Harry's life, and it seems that is one thing he has carried with him across the Atlantic. The Duke had built a strong connection with both rugby and football in England long before he settled in California. Years later, despite now calling the US home and the FIFA World Cup being co-hosted there, his allegiance still appears to lie with the England teams he has supported for years.
It also seems to be something Harry is passing on to his son, Prince Archie, as well. In a recent Father's Day photo shared by Meghan Markle on Instagram, the seven-year-old could be seen wearing an England football shirt.
In the picture, Archie and Lilibet could be seen wrapped around Harry as they held him close. However, that little detail of Archie wearing the England football T-shirt definitely caught everyone's attention. Archie's choice was interesting considering he grew up in California and could easily have been rooting for the US team instead. But it looks like Harry's football loyalties may have rubbed off on his son.
For Harry, sport seems to be one of the few things that still keep him closely tied to the UK. Even after stepping away from royal life, his support for England has never really changed. In that sense, he is not all that different from Prince William. The brothers have taken different paths in recent years, but they both share a love for the game, with William famously cheering on Aston Villa at every opportunity. And when it comes to international football, they have remained firmly in England's corner.
Moreover, in another snap shared by the Duchess, Archie could be seen kicking a giant football with Harry. Of course, football is not the only sport Harry would love to see Archie play. Long before stepping back from royal life, he used to be Patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League. It's not hard to imagine that Harry was perhaps already planning on getting Archie involved when his son was still little.
