Prince Harry did not mince his words in his recent BBC interview. If his explosive claims against the royal family weren’t enough, he threw subtle shade while launching an initiative, four days after the salacious sit-down. Onstage, the Duke of Sussex spoke about ‘fearless leadership’ in an ‘apathetic world,' which many interpreted as a subtle jibe at his estranged family.

Harry traveled to Las Vegas on Prince Archie’s birthday to launch a new initiative for The Diana Award. The Duke praised the young award recipients for ‘standing up for themselves’ days after speaking out about his sour relationship with King Charles. As reported by the Mirror, he told the young leaders, “From a younger generation standpoint, in an apathetic world, there’s more empathy in this generation than I’ve ever seen before…It’s the empathy, the authenticity, the truth, the honesty, and the fearlessness…”

The charity set up in memory of the late Princess Diana aims to encourage businesses to invest in youth leadership. The Duke of Sussex also spoke about how young people now have a renewed openness about mental health. He said, “This generation isn’t waiting for permission to lead – they are already doing it. They bring emotional intelligence, social awareness, and an honesty about mental health that previous generations struggled to express.” In what was perhaps a more obvious jibe, Harry added, “What sets them apart is….their refusal to settle for the status quo… If we’re serious about a better future, we need to stop underestimating them and start listening.” This refusal to go with the status quo, speaking up, and forcing others to start listening, echoes Harry's own journey and royal exit.

Earlier, in his controversial BBC sit-down, Harry described the protection given by the Firm as a form of ‘control.’ As per the Daily Express, he claimed, “I think what really worries me…depending on what happens next, it sets a new precedent that security can be used to control members of the family.” He alleged that the royal family removed his security to discourage his move to the US and force him back to the UK. Another explosive claim against his family was when he described his court loss as a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up.”

Harry's assertions on air have reportedly left his father, King Charles, both ‘frustrated and upset.’ Insiders also suggest that his brother, Prince William, is considering stripping Harry of his royal titles once he becomes King. Interestingly, Harry also used the interview to make a plea for reconciliation with his family. Shortly before the interview, the Duke also released a bombshell letter detailing the unfair treatment Meghan Markle faced before she joined the royal fold.
