Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been happily married since 2018. The former Suits star wed the Duke of Sussex after the two met on a blind date in 2016. Before their wedding, Harry allegedly thought it wise to break the news to his long-time ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, over a phone call. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, Davy was reportedly ‘left in tears’ after Harry told her he was moving on with Markle.

Interestingly, Davy attended Harry's wedding to Markle and reportedly even ‘hugged’ her after the ceremony. However, Nicoll claimed she initially wanted to bail out of attending the ceremony. In an article for Vanity Fair, Nicoll penned, “It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on. Chelsy was quite emotional about it all; she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding.” She added, “In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.”

A source who spoke to Nicoll also claimed that neither Davy nor Harry’s other ex, Cressida Bonas, was invited to the evening reception at Frogmore House. Nicoll also spoke to Cosmopolitan and revealed that Harry always wanted to cut off his exes after he married Markle. She explained, “He had a sort of farewell conversation with Chelsy where he spoke to her to say goodbye, and I think probably Cressida and Chelsy both knew that after the wedding they wouldn't see much of Prince Harry.” She added, “He's very much focused on his marriage and his wife, and it has been a case of some of his friends falling a bit by the wayside.”

It’s widely reported that Harry and Davy remain on ‘good terms,’ and an alleged incident at his surprise farewell party backs it up. A friend of the Duke revealed that his well-wishers threw Harry a leaving party before he left for Canada to be with Markle and his son. Davy was reportedly a ‘surprise guest’ at the party. Speaking to New Idea, the friend said, “Harry was beaming when he walked into the room, and everyone was there waiting for him. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Chelsy.” They added, “He gave her the biggest hug…She and Harry have a serious connection, but I doubt they would ever hook up on anything.” The friend also claimed that Markle was fully okay with Harry attending the party.

Harry and Davy allegedly broke up over constant privacy breaches from the press. As reported by The Mirror, Davy once said, “[Dating Harry] was so full-on: Crazy and scary and uncomfortable…I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young…and it was horrible.”
