Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Given a Brutal Couple Name Over Upcoming Tour
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last visited Australia in 2018, shortly after their royal wedding.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex often face public criticism because the media and royal experts closely watch their every move. Whether it is a business decision, public appearance, or media project, these experts often question their intentions and relevance. For instance, the royal couple is now being criticized for their scheduled visit to Australia next month. Adding to the backlash, popular Sky News presenter Danica De Giorgio has openly mocked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, labelling them “Mr. and Mrs. Grifter."
In a recent discussion on Sky News Australia, GB News presenter Emily Carver joined Danica De Giorgio in criticizing Harry, highlighting how he frequently portrays himself as a victim. At one point during the conversation, De Giorgio addressed the couple's upcoming Australia tour, saying, "Mr. and Mrs. Grifter, they're coming to Australia next month. Not sure what we did to deserve this one and not sure why they would bother." She even mentioned a petition stating, "There's a change.org petition, it's got about 30,000 signatures when I last looked, calling for the Duke and Duchess to cover all of the costs of their trip privately, with no taxpayer or official support. I think that's absolutely fair enough."
Interestingly, Carver seemed to agree with De Giorgio's harsh criticism, as she said, "They sort of want all the perks and the PR, and the pomp and pageantry almost of being part of the royal family. But they don't really want any of the responsibility. They like to turn up to events, have a few photos taken, look like the charming, lovely people that they wish to present themselves as, and then go home." She further claimed that Harry and Meghan should pay for their own trips, as they are clearly engaged in a mix of business and charitable work.
Carver even mentioned that, based on the trip’s apparent itinerary, Meghan may attend a women-only weekend retreat in Sydney, with the ticket prices reportedly starting at 2,699 Australian dollars per day. Summing up her opinion, she stated, "I can't help but think this is all a part of their global grift." Later in the conversation, De Giorgio boldly announced that most Australians are not even interested in the upcoming royal visit, seeing it as a waste of their time.
It's worth noting that Harry and Meghan, who stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, last visited Australia in 2018, just a few months after their wedding. Although they stayed for nine days during their last trip, things will be different this time around, as the couple is allegedly set to take up a mix of private, professional, and charitable commitments, according to a representative. Meanwhile, sources have claimed that Meghan is expected to explore international growth for her As Ever brand, with Australia considered a promising market for expansion, according to the Daily Express. She is reportedly going to conduct several private meetings with prospective buyers and marketing executives.
