Not Charles or Camilla ―These Two Family Members May Hold the Key to William and Kate's Reign
Prince William and Princess Kate may not have to navigate the future of the monarchy alone, according to a royal expert.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will usher in a new era when they become King and Queen. The royal couple is already focusing on significant shifts within the monarchy to establish a 'modern approach' towards doing things. William had previously asserted that "change was on his agenda," and it is evident with the weight that he carries behind the scenes right now. But the couple might find some support close to home, and it's not King Charles or Queen Camilla. Simon Vigar, former royal correspondent, sheds light on the expected role by two seniors who are not within the royal fold yet share a close bond with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
In an exclusive with HELLO! on A Right Royal Podcast, Vigar highlighted that the Middleton family will assert "huge influence" on how the Waleses establish their reign. The author of The Four Wives of Windsor noted that especially Carole and Michael Middleton will be on center stage when the Waleses take charge of the monarchy. He further commented on the influence of Kate's upbringing and family on her parenting style with her three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — and how this may impact the monarchy. "Catherine is married to the next King, and she is the mother of the one after that. I think clearly the Middleton family will have a huge impact on the future of the monarchy," he claimed. Vigar further explained that the Middletons shaped their children's lives with a liberal upbringing, which has in turn influenced how Kate raises her own children. According to a source, the late Queen recognized Kate's value early on and considered her the "backbone" of the Middleton family.
"Catherine was given several years, as we know, to decide whether she was going to join the royal family or not," Vigar highlighted. "And once she had made that decision, she was all in," he added. It is widely known that Kate's mother has been a steadfast support during her cancer diagnosis and recovery in 2024. Hence, it is obvious that Kate will continue to remain close to her parents as she navigates her new role in the future. Prince William too has always spoken highly of the Middletons. The future King found his in-laws and their lifestyle to be notably informal. "Laying a tablecloth was a struggle and placing the cutlery embarrassing. He tried to claim it was because he’s left-handed," a royal source claimed, as reported by Women & Home Magazine.
"They are far more ordinary than many might imagine - the kids even have to do chores in return for their pocket money. It's about them wanting to have a normal, happy, ordinary family home," Royal author Katie Nicholl had highlighted. Royal editor Emily Nash added that in recent years, William has become more emotionally expressive, as shown through various public appearances. He has demonstrated vulnerability, which might be the direct influence of the Middletons.
