Meghan's Hollywood Friends Believe She Will Return to Acting: 'She'll Blow Everyone's Mind'

Recently, Eric and Eliza Roberts suggested it was time Meghan Markle returned to her roots after the collapse of her Netflix deal.

Meghan Markle famously announced that she would retire from acting shortly after her engagement to Prince Harry. After walking down the aisle, taking on public duties, and bidding adieu to the royal family within two years, it was revealed that she had returned to her roots last November to play herself on Close Personal Friends. Given the recent unravelling of her $100 million Netflix deal, her famous friends, Eric Roberts and Eliza Roberts, believe it will finally pave the way for Markle's prolific acting comeback, which will surprise everyone.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Mail, Julia Roberts' brother and his wife reflected on Markle's future amid the collapse of her lucrative partnership. Eliza said, "It is time. And Meghan needs to come back to work. I feel like her whole family will support it, and she is amazing." She also spoke about Markle's last on-screen appearance, claiming that the Duchess had to step back from Suits because the royal family had concerns over her 'very sexy' character. She added, "Her [Markle] making love with another man—that was just—they've [the royal family] never seen anything like that… From the second you see her, she just has star quality… It was always going to happen."

Chiming in, Eric agreed with his wife and suggested that Markle's comeback would catch many off guard, but in a good way. He opined, "I think she [Markle] should come back… And I think she's going to be fantastic and blow everybody's mind." Eric played billionaire Charles Frontman on Suits and developed a close friendship with Markle on set. He went on to describe her as a "really cool person, really easy, laid-back, kind, smart." Eliza insisted the 'magic' of Suits could return, despite the ill-fated Los Angeles-based spin-off being canceled after one season last year.

The powerhouse pair also spilled that they were well acquainted with Markle even before she had met Harry. Eliza stressed, "She's [Markle] a good mom...That's all you need to know about somebody." Sharing their thoughts on her upcoming cameo on Close Personal Friends, Eric and Eliza reckoned that it could pave the way for Rachel Zane [Markle's Suits character] to return to the screen. Eliza then spoke with pride about her husband's varied career: "I love that he [Eric] was the character in Suits, and two minutes later, he's the character in Righteous Gemstones."

And as for Markle's acting career, an insider previously told PEOPLE that although she had a 'small part' in Close Personal Friends, she seemed 'relaxed and happy' on set last November. The film, which stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid, follows a couple who befriend another famous pair during a trip to Santa Barbara; a fitting premise for the Duchess, who lives nearby in Montecito with the Duke. If the movie gets the green light, it would mark her first high-profile screen appearance since leaving Suits.
