Despite the backlash, Meghan Markle continues to hide her children’s faces while sharing rare peeks of life in Montecito on social media. The Duchess of Sussex recently posted a video on Instagram of her walking hand in hand with her daughter, Princess Lilibet, dressed in matching beekeeping outfits. Eagle-eyed watchers zeroed in on Lilibet and claimed the child in the clip looked nothing like her. They accused Markle of passing off another 'child actor' as her daughter.
Markle posted her beekeeping adventure on May 25. As reported by People magazine, the video featured her approaching an apiary while holding her 3-year-old’s hand, who waddled in adorable rainbow colored boots. Interestingly, the clip is fittingly set to the song Sugar, Sugar by The Archies, a subtle nod to her eldest, Prince Archie. The Duchess has spoken about her love for beekeeping in an episode of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. She said of her hobby, “It's also like that little reminder to do something that scares you a little bit. I think that's part of it, but I'm trying to stay in the calm of it.”
As Markle and Lilibet’s picture made their rounds on X (formerly Twitter), royal fans couldn't help but point out the same thing. A royal watcher commented, “Yup! Another day, another child actor.” In a similar vein, another echoed, “Those kids' height and hair color change every day. Can’t she rent the same kids every time?” A netizen agreed, “You are right! Two totally different children just by leg size.” As the comments poured in, a fan quipped, “Couldn’t afford the same rent-a-kid or was she already booked for another gig? There’s no way to know!”
Others dragged the Duchess through the mud for putting her daughter in danger by exposing her to bees. A fan commented, “I thought the same, definitely different, and it's dangerous to take children to [see the] bees even if it's only one.” Another argued, “That bee net mask doesn't do anything to protect against bee stings as long as it is lying flat on the kid's face.” A fan, meanwhile, reasoned, “That is the same child. The boots and beekeeper outfit make her shins look shorter than they actually are.” Others, defending Markle, pointed out that she is known to often post throwbacks, hence the video of Lilbet could be from when she was younger.
As per the Irish Star, the Duchess of Sussex shares her passion for beekeeping with Kate Middleton and King Charles. The publication reports that in the trailer for With Love, Meghan, Markle is seen donning protective gear and approaching a beehive to collect honey. Royal watchers quickly pointed out that Middleton had also posted a photo on her social media in protective clothing, tending to a beehive in May 2023, on World Bee Day. Charles, on the other hand, as an environmentalist, is an advocate of protecting bees and is known to have many beehives at his Highgrove House country home in Tetbury.
