Meghan Markle Reportedly Issued Harry an Ultimatum — and It Says A Lot About Their Marriage

As Markle is carving her way out with a successful lifestyle brand she is feeling the pinch of being the sole breadwinner.

The Sussexes' self-funded lifestyle may be under more strain than they are letting on. With reports suggesting the couple could be approaching a financial breaking point, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be rethinking their lifestyle and career trajectory. Since stepping back from royal duties, the couple has had to forge their own financial path without taxpayer support, leaning heavily on their connections within the entertainment industry's upper echelons to stay afloat. Amid this, Markle has put her foot down and delivered that ultimate warning to Prince Harry - 'get a job'. "Meghan finally told Harry he needs to step up financially," an insider told Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack. "She’s driving the business deals, managing the brand, and thinking about the future. She’s tired of feeling like the only one focused on keeping the money flowing."

The Duchess remains the primary breadwinner, as Harry has focused on philanthropic work and passion projects rather than pursuing significant commercial opportunities. "Harry still approaches life like a royal," the insider added. "He wants purpose-driven work, while Meghan is looking at the numbers and asking how everything gets paid for." The source disclosed that Markle does not like the financial burden since she signed up for a dedicated partner who would shoulder their responsibilities, and Harry's royal inheritance is certainly not bailing them out.

According to Women and Home Magazine, a source said, "[Harry and Meghan] have truly lost the plot. I hear she's spiraling badly because she knows nothing is working. The whole thing about her [As Ever] stuff selling out isn't true anymore. I don't think either of them are happy." It is a well-known fact that the once-celebrated couple is now losing out on their Hollywood friends as well. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos reportedly became disillusioned with Markle and claimed he would need a lawyer present for any calls with her, a claim Netflix has refuted. Following an ugly Variety piece about the Duchess, numerous photos of her with Sarandos and his wife, Nicole Avant, at a Netflix event were removed from the agency, presumably due to Markle's discomfort with her appearance in them.

Reports suggest that the Sussexes remain 'wildly unhappy', since they had to let go of several lucrative deals. Harry is reportedly considering a move to Montana for solitude, while Markle is monitoring their spending, as the Duke is unaware of the costs of a basic lifestyle due to his upbringing in a palace. "They don't have a choice at this point. They really need the money," the source stated while highlighting their future. Despite this, they continue to hold on to each other, "They love each other deeply," a source concluded. "This isn’t about divorce or separation. It’s about Meghan pushing Harry to adapt to a world where they can’t rely on royal status or inherited wealth forever."
