King Charles Shows His ‘Softer Side’ With Surprising Gesture to Prince Louis at Easter Service
A playful exchange between Prince Louis and King Charles added a heartwarming touch to the royal Easter outing.
The Sunday Easter service became a sight to behold as the Royal Family showed up as a united front despite the ongoing controversies. Moreover, an adorable exchange between King Charles and his grandson, Prince Louis, was definitely one of the highlights of the day. It was a full family outing for the Wales crew, led by Prince William, at the Easter service in Windsor. Seven-year-old Louis strolled down from Windsor Castle alongside his mom and sister Charlotte before joining the rest of the royals at St George’s Chapel, where everyone was waiting for the King and Queen to arrive.
King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived by car outside the chapel to shouts of “God save the King,” as members of the royal family greeted them with bows and curtsies. As he made his way into the church, Charles paused to acknowledge his grandchildren, Charlotte and Louis, and appeared to give the younger one a light, playful tap on the shoulder.
Body language expert, Judi James, noticed the gesture and told The Mirror, “It is a very unusual reward ritual from Charles, showing his softer side as a doting grandad. There is a very sweet moment when Charles is walking past William's children and he spontaneously, fondly and unusually (in public), stretches one hand out to pat one of them.” Louis is known for his over-the-top antics, but watching him bond with his grandfather surely shows a different side of the young Prince.
The Wales family attended the traditional Easter service for the first time after Kate was diagnosed with cancer. Apart from Louis, their other two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were in attendance as well. However, James also noticed certain gestures from Prince William that indicated that he was tense and anxious. She said, “It was only William showing a subtle tell of any anxiety with a gesture he shares ironically with his brother when they are under scrutiny or pressure, which is the hand placed over the stomach in a self-soothing barrier ritual.”
It can be assumed that William’s uneasiness is a result of the family being put under the microscope after disgraced ex-Prince Andrew was arrested for his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. On his 66th birthday, he was taken by the authorities under suspicion of leaking trade secrets while he was still a UK trade envoy. Mountbatten-Windsor’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, skipped the event as they did not want to attract negative attention for the family.
Moreover, the Duchess of Edinburgh was also absent from the event. Alongside Sophie, her daughter, Lady Louise, also did not turn up to the event as she is currently busy focusing on her university studies. Prince Edward showed up with their son James, but Sophie skipped it as she was not feeling well. Also in attendance were Princess Anne, who arrived with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. And not to forget, Peter Philips, his daughters, soon-to-be wife, Harriet Sperling, along with her daughter, completed the group.
