King Charles Is ‘Testing the Waters’ To Protect Beatrice and Eugenie From Andrew’s Fallout: Source
King Charles might have stripped his brother Andrew of his royal titles, but that doesn't mean that he is not going to look out for his nieces. In fact, he is actively trying to get Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie involved in Royal affairs, and is not going to hold them accountable for what their father did. Both Beatrice and Eugenie were seen making official appearances since their father was stripped of his titles, and would likely make more such appearances to continue with their Royal duties.
A Royal source told Vanity Fair, “It was something that was being looked at before recent events but despite what has happened with Andrew, it’s not off the cards. Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can.”
Beatrice was the first to make a public appearance after the incident, at a Borne research laboratory at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on November 10. Then Eugenie was seen taking part in an event for the King's Foundation - a reception for under-35-year-olds in London on November 13. As the source further added, “She was so excited to be there and seemed very proud to have been asked.”
Eugenie herself spoke during the occasion, making a statement about her admiration for the King's Foundation and her passion for the arts. She said, “It was fantastic to spend more time with the 35 under 35, who are such an incredible group of talented young people. I have enjoyed getting to know them better and hearing about their work and aspirations, and look forward to supporting their journeys into the future. My career has been shaped by a passion for the arts, so it’s a pleasure to be working with The King’s Foundation to support this inspirational group of artists and creatives.”
As for the King, he is "testing the waters" to see how his nieces will be received at public gatherings, something they have been doing for years. “The monarch is fond of his nieces and doesn’t want them to suffer because of their father’s downfall... There was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need. For their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the king.”
The two York sisters are going to “stick together and stay strong,” but won't be hiding behind closed doors. As a source close to the princesses revealed, they "recognize there is a responsibility to support their uncle and they want to support him.” The King will also keep involving them in more Royal affairs and keep showing his support for his nieces.
