One such ambassador, who happens to be a well-known television personality, recently disclosed a chaotic situation she encountered with the monarch that almost dented her reputation.
Appearing on Joe Marler's podcast, TV presenter Anna Williamson recounted her most embarrassing celebrity encounter. She shockingly confessed to accidentally spraying pea risotto on King Charles's face during a reception at Highgrove, GBN News reported. "What is your most embarrassing celebrity encounter?" Marler inquired during their lively discussion, to which Williamson stated that there were several, yet the one with King Charles remains etched in her mind. "One of them that springs to mind involves our monarch, the King," the longtime King's Trust ambassador recalled. "You can do a variety of things that are respectful, but I did all of them at one go: a curtsey, a bow, a handshake," she highlighted while describing their fateful encounter and the sheer panic she experienced before greeting the monarch.
"I then fell forwards with the risotto, spat risotto in the King's face, curtseyed but stumbled on the paving slab, fell into him so he had to sort of push me back up again," she revealed, adding that she literally fell onto King Charles and "had to be pulled off him." Despite expecting total chaos to erupt, Williamson was surprised by how calm everyone remained, including the monarch's composure. "Actually, everyone was quite chilled," she added, further noting that her friends found the whole situation hilarious. Williamson disclosed that before the King's security could react, Charles himself helped her to get a grip. "It was how I broke the ice with the King," Williamson confessed, amused. She described the meeting with the King as a "unique" way of getting introduced.
Williamson gained recognition in the 1990s as a children's television presenter on CITV, Milkshake!, and Nickelodeon, later becoming a reality television expert on shows like Celebs Go Dating. Additionally, she is a notable mental health advocate, leveraging social media to promote awareness on the topic. This is not the first time a celebrity has felt nervous in the King's presence. Environmental conservationist Robert Irwin had recalled an awkward meeting with the King while appearing on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show. Irwin confessed that while sharing a lunch table with the monarch as a child, he accidentally spilled orange juice right across the table: "Luckily, it didn’t hit him," Irwin highlighted, the Australian Women's Weekly reported.
