King Charles’ Centenary Tribute Has Fans Convinced Harry and Meghan Will Be ‘Absolutely Livid’

William and Kate take center stage in the late Queen’s 100th anniversary commemorations while Harry and Meghan remain sidelined from the official narrative.

Underscoring the royal family's deepening internal tensions, King Charles released an emotional tribute to mark what would have been the late Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday. One detail, however, immediately caught the eyes of royal watchers right away — the striking absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Instead, the commemorative video heavily featured clips from the 2022 Platinum Jubilee, specifically highlighting Prince William and Princess Catherine, standing prominently alongside their children during the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance. Even so, the underlying sentiment was unmistakable.

Since Charles’ cancer diagnosis in 2024, the Prince and Princess of Wales have been taking up more duties on their shoulders, suggesting that the future of the Crown rests with those who remain, leaving Harry and Markle relegated to the Firm’s past. Although they were present in London for those 2022 festivities, they were notably barred from the balcony lineup — a consequence of their status as non-working royals. Now, by leaving them out of the late Queen’s centenary video, the monarchy has effectively placed the California-based couple in a state of permanent digital exile.

The exclusion of the Sussexes immediately caught the attention of fans on Reddit, who quickly took over the platform to debate the significance of the apparent snub by the King. One user remarked, “No Harry and Meghan on that balcony. They will be absolutely livid in Montecito,” while another added, “I'm glad they didn’t show Harry and Meghan. Those two made the Queen’s last years full of stress. It would be unfair to her memory to pretend that all was well between them.”

Public criticism only grew sharper as netizens reflected on the late Queen’s final years. A third user sneered, “Knowing that near the end of her life, she was heartbroken by her grandson and his hustling wife is so upsetting; they don’t deserve a mention, let alone an appearance.” In a blunt assessment summarizing the Sussexes’ current standing in the royal pecking order, another user stated, “Harry’s a footnote. Meghan is a footnote’s plus one.” While the couple may not have appreciated being sidelined from the tribute, across the Atlantic, senior royals, including William, Catherine, Princess Anne, and the Duke of Kent, gathered at Buckingham Palace for a cocktail reception to honor the late Queen.

Despite the social media outrage, reports suggest that the Duke of Sussex has sent flowers to the late Queen’s grave at the King George VI Memorial Chapel—something he did in 2023 and 2025 as well by making a quiet visit to her resting place. Despite his consistent public declarations of affection for his grandmother, his and Markle’s absence from the official tribute remains a powerful statement. By focusing on the Prince and Princess of Wales and leaving the Sussexes out of the commemorative footage, it looks like the royal family is moving on, and the Duke and Duchess have been left out of its evolving storyline.
