King Charles Caught on Camera Halting Trooping Duties for Sweet Gesture Towards Camilla — Watch
A sweet Trooping the Colour moment shows why King Charles and Queen Camilla's 50-year love story continues to captivate royal fans.
Although not without its challenges, King Charles and Queen Camilla's relationship has stood the test of time. After more than five decades of knowing each other and 21 years of marriage, Charles remains smitten by Camilla. His love was on display yet again during the Trooping the Colour celebrations on June 13, when he noticed Camilla's discomfort while seated at the Ascot Landau carriage. In a sweet display of chivalry, he paused his formalities to offer her his personal cushion, ensuring her comfort for the long day of celebrations ahead.
In a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), Charles and Camilla can be seen greeting well-wishers during the carriage procession along The Mall. As Camilla appeared increasingly uncomfortable in her seat, Charles swiftly picked up a black cushion from underneath and adjusted it beneath his wife. The blink it and you will miss it moment highlighted their enduring bond, showing the monarch's rarely seen softer side. Weighing in on Charles's thoughtful gesture, Graham Tinsley MBE, former manager of the Welsh Culinary Team, told HELLO!, "Wherever he [Charles] goes for a banquet, he always takes a few things with him to be placed on his table. He always takes a little silver Maldon sea salt container and his favorite cushion." Watch the video here!
After the video made its rounds online, lip readers quickly caught onto Camilla's uneasiness during the procession. As reported by the Daily Express, lip reader Nicola Hickling claimed Camilla appeared to tell Charles, "I'm in a right mess," to which he reportedly replied, "Could you get up? It's trapped, I need to pull it out so I am comfortable." Analyzing another clip, Hickling believed Charles scoffed, "I'm in a right mess, (mumbles) it's a mess...We shall wait and see them on Monday; it must be done."
Unsurprisingly, this isn't the first time Charles has sweetly looked out for his wife's comfort. Analyzing another moment from their Italy trip last October, as per The Royal Insider, Hickling revealed, "As King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped out of the plane doors, the King could be seen turning to his wife, cautioning her, 'You ought to be careful going down the steps.'" Ironically, just as he spoke, he lost his own footing before quickly steadying himself and making a recovery. Their historic state visit saw them meet the new American pontiff, Pope Leo XIV, following his election in May.
