The official birthday celebration of King Charles, better known as Trooping the Colour, is considered one of the biggest and most anticipated events on the royal calendar. Filled with traditions and military pageantry, the annual ceremony brings together the Royal Family and thousands of spectators to mark the monarch’s official birthday. This year, the event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026. However, despite the growing anticipation and intense preparations behind the scenes, this grand celebration may face some complications.

Recently, Republic, a group widely known for organizing anti-monarchy protests, stated on its website, "Every year, the royals hijack this parade to remain relevant. This balcony moment puts privilege and birth above merit and democracy." They added, "Last year, attempts were made to keep us out of sight as the royals waved from their balcony. They were clearly rattled by the protest in 2024. This year, we won't let that happen. Trooping the Colour is a public event, and we have every right to peacefully protest there."

Giving further details, the group added, "The Republic Team will be there from 8.30 am on The Mall. We’ll be protesting on The Mall, on the Green Park side, not far from Buckingham Palace." They went on to claim that their protests are peaceful, friendly, and meant to be a fun experience, and added, "Come and join people from around the UK to protest against the monarchy, to challenge the royals and to tell the world: we're not a nation of royalists." Even last year, the group held a protest, gathering along The Mall from early morning to voice their views.

Back then, they slammed the monarchy, stating, "Trooping the Colour is the key iconic royal event of the year. From now on, there will be protesters there, calling out the event and the monarchy as a superficial cover for a grubby and corrupt institution." They also drew a comparison with the United States, saying Americans have genuine concerns about President Donald Trump and his military parade, pointing out that the UK had a similar situation, describing the British King as someone who wears unearned military uniforms and medals while demanding a massive military parade through London.

Meanwhile, it's worth mentioning that this year's Trooping the Colour event is set to bring together more than 1,400 soldiers on parade, along with around 200 horses and 400 musicians from the Household Division, creating a massive display of military pageantry. On that day, all members of the Royal Family are expected to make a special appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony, greeting crowds, while the Royal Air Force carries out its traditional fly past.
