Recently, Kate Middleton once again won hearts when she invited fellow Three Peaks Challenge trekkers to a tea party at Windsor Castle. The guests, including 11-year-old Ted Haslam, whom the Princess of Wales met during her summit, appeared to have warm conversations with her and enjoyed sweet treats over tea in the beautiful video shared by Kensington Palace. Servers pouring tea into cups, delectable goodies spread out on the fine cutlery, one frame showing only a teacup, and the tea ware appearing in the corner of a group picture, the tea set seemed to play the main character at the meet and greet. While a tea party at a palace would naturally include royal tea ware, the unnecessary focus on it in a reel that had nothing to do with it might have seemed unnatural to social media users.
One X user asked, "Did Kate Middleton promote cancer awareness with a 'private' tea? OR, did she promote a Royal teacup collection?" while another mentioned, "It’s the editing more than anything. Whoever is editing needs to do better. Everything shouldn’t come across like a commercial." One social media user wrote, "it showcases the sale of Royal branded China. So who is using the Royal brand to sell stuff? The Royals." However, others defended the princess with one questioning, "Does it matter? The Princess of Wales completed the arduous Three Peaks Challenge earlier this year to raise cancer awareness and funds for the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she underwent treatment. The beloved royal recently visited the institution to see first-hand how the funds would be used to support patients.
